im done with the 6 speed conversion

can you say the 1st astra coupe thats a 2.2 supercharged with a 6 speed (clarkson voice) in the world!

i cba to take the diff case off again so im just going to buy a m18x1.5 magnetic sump plug

the noise from the diff makes it sound like the engine is falling out lol no dual mass so the box is giving all the idling gears and the diff all of the feed back sounds fine when driving as the lash is taken up and ive not had the t/c lamp on once since install

but on a test on a private drive the 6th gear is good
f23 = 70mph @3000rpm
m32 = 80mph @2500rpm
bored computer estimated 44mpg lol

it was a private drive there were no other buggers

went and bought some fully synthetic morris oil for the box ready for the change over cant remember if it was 75-90 or 75-80 will look in the morning lol
going to do 300 miles then swap it out

About time you took that gearbox out again !

You just want to see if your new magnetic plug is working don't you ?

the shaft is floppy in the diff it has 4-6mm of movement not sure if its the diff or the shaft
took the shaft out as the seal was leaking


the slip ring was buggered so got replaced


new gm seal fitted here's hoping no more oil leaks
at least the subframe wont go rusty that side lol


after putting it all back together the shaft still has the 4-6mm movement in and out the diff not sure on what the fix for that is

well ive just put 2.8l of the thickest gear oil ive seen lol


ran the engine and for the 1st time there was no rattling from the box that comes with the single mass flywheel like ive had before
will have see what its like when its been run and got walm

we have that oil at work only it comes in 1000L cans
