Fitting the EGR Cheater

the diodes are very important, they stop feedback to the ecu, if one fails it will send the wrong signal to the ecu :(

Just to keep you updated on this:

I refitted the egr valve and the cooling fan did not come back on for two days. So I fitted the new tested cheater started her up and the eml came on :( so pulled fuse 8 for a few seconds replaced and all seems to be ok. :D Three days and counting.

Hopeful problem solved possibly a faulty batch of diodes? Though I checked the resistances and diodes old vs new and they both seemed fine????

I will up date in a weeks time if no change.

Just one other thing the cars seems to take about a week to settle back down after the ecu is re-set. There are is a huge flat spot around 3500 rpm which slowly disappears over time? Is this normal?

Cheers Oakmere

the trouble with diodes these days is they are mass produced for pennies :(

as they were brand new I didn't think to test them, but do now

the ecu does take a while to settle, I recommend 30 miles of moderate varied driving to give the basic set up, it then can settle down over the next 50 miles or so :)

Thats a Tidy setup, I like that! The way it just slips into the original plug! Any chance of a pic from the solderd side. I'd like to copy it please!

that is neat :D

I missed the original post

I have since made a similar version

the pins are underneath on the 2008 'pin' version, but the pcb MUST be plugged in the same way up as the pic below

P.S.: Now I filled all with some transparent thermal glue.

didnt think this would be needed (egr cheater) as if you get ya ecu updated with tech2 with no egr option it deletes it from the ecu anyway?? notsure.gif

And as far as I know it is not possible for every Z22SE to have the relevant code disabled by tech2. For vx220's it is not possible, and I understand from my mechanic that not all astra's/vectra's etc can be disabled..
