I Ant heard owt from him, iv pointed him in this direction and iv told him the situation we are in at this point but thats about as much as I can tell you.

Have you seen that other z22se engine on there, someone paid £600 to a garage to do both chains and the head gasket and you should see the mess they have made, no balance chain at all and a jubilee clip around the balance chain tensioner. Iv put an image on pictures that make you lol. Its crazy.

Yea, ive seen that, shocking, there's some real cowboys about. How did they expect to get away with it?

Just been pointed to this thread by someone on Vec-c.com in my thread about it here http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showthread.php?213492-That-was-a-close-one

I've just had the balance chain tensioner fail on my 2.0T after less than nine months since it was replaced. I bought the timing chain kit and tensioner kit seperately, one came from here and one came from Neo Brothers, couldn't remember which was which until I checked last night. The balancer chain kit came from Neos so you're off the hook there Matt lol.

Very slightly different symptoms though, the piston on the tensioner locked in place completely when pushed in (no apparent ratchet to stop it compared to the old one), you could unlock it and it would pop out again, but the second it got pushed in again it locked into place again.

Is it FAI?

It wants returning to the manfacturer for inspection

In a way I hope its a FAI 1, I hope it didnt do any damage, as I was lucky.

Honestly can't remember, will check the paperwork tonight when I get home and see if it says. Got away with it I think, I did run it for rather longer than I should have with a rather loose balance shaft chain, so much so the shafts jumped out of alignment and it had a horrible vibration as a result. Seems ok since the weekend though after I re-aligned them and re-fitted the old tensioner for now (thankfully I'd kept it).

So thanks to Matt for talking to FAI for us and dealing with all the returns etc, we have been refunded for the new gm tensioners. Great customer service from FAI and even better customer support and service from matt, a potentially bad situation turned into a nice easy situation all thanks to you matt. Thanks alot

Mine was ok inline I think

I had a horrible vibration but its gone now
Hi you two I've got the same balance tensioner problem could you please tell me if you need the motor at TDC to re-time the balance chain?
I fitted FAI chains and I'm almost certain that my tensioner has gone as well (25 thousand miles later),but having a blocked cat as well it's been hard to tie down!!
Anyu advice would be appreciated!
