Z22YH Fails to start unless crank sensor unplugged!

Sadly not although Dave Gilbert, evocarlos or KevinH might have a source as I bought mine as the last one the site shop sold from Matt.

I got mine from the USA. Not genuine GM but Cloyes brand (who make the OEM chain guides for the z22se anyway). Prices were 120USD for timing chain and a little less for balance chain kit. www.rockauto.com

problem with getting them from the US to the UK there are vat and handling fees!!!!

there are people on ebay selling genuine kits with gaskets for the right price

I saw a issue like this once on a Corsa C where it wouldnt start with cranksensor plugged in and it turned out that while doing a engine swap the cranksensor plug and knock sensor plug were exactly the same and had been swapped. This was stopping injectors firing and ignition. Once the connectors were put on the right sensors it fired up perfect and all codes cleared. Strangely none of the codes refered to knock or cranksensor when they were plugged in. Im not sure if its possible on this engine but worth checking.

appreciate your help mate but on the z22yh the plugs are entierly different! im going to investigate wiring of sensor first if anyone can tell me what i should be seeing sensor end that would be great if not.. theres a signum 2.2 direct elite with leather satnav etc for breaking or whole car £800 cant justify spending anymore on it..

I've tried 3 sensors now, so I'm fairly sure it can't be the sensor. Next is timing chain.. When funds allow as buying another car for the misses to get around in was more important... When the car is first started it sounds like the chain is rattling as though the tensioner isn't working though when warmed up it goes. Engine is hesitant and tends to stall when under load. So I can only assume it's this.. As also in limp mode... If anyone out there with a z22yh would like to unplug there crank sensor and tell me how it responds. Be very much helpful!
