all i hear on the interwebings is ""the 2.2 is s**t the chains snap"" well in all the guys and girls from here i have done work on there cars there was only one case where the chain had snapped 40:1 not to bad odds
these engines are good if there maintained. But im defo thinking of getting something else. My cars worthless and causing issues. But cash flow is allways the problem and I do still like my car.(I dont know why)

yes thats a failed part its not meant to go back in once its come out theres a ratchet that stops it going in to reset them you turn it 90 degrees then push in turn back and add the pin but yours has a failed ratchet mech

I'm back from the garage, said they weren't prepared to look at it as it could turn out to be massive job! and my car is a tad obscure for them.

One thing I've noticed is I am getting more engine vibration through the car than normal especially on idle. This would be more noticable on my car with it being so light/ made of plastic.

Will video mine in the morning.
hi mate, matt has had issues with the site this morning, so lost all this mornings conversion about the noise "but good news every one"(sorry futurama) I know whats up with mine so hopefully it should be the same issue on your engine. Its not a big deal to fit, just a pain to get to(well sounds like it on a vx220) but its the balancing chain tensioner thats failed on mine. Hope you get sorted.

Looks like the forum restore has wiped my posts yesterday

here's my vid for reference, but it sounds exactly the same so must in theory be the exact same part that has failed.
