I have a standard z22se cat lying around from when I took it off mine, so if you do go Astra manifold and adaptor pipe that could be welded in to keep it mot friendly. Only want scrap value for it

I think the weak point is where all the collectors meet on top

Is it cold ?
If so the crack will be more obvious
When it is cold start up and see if you can here clicking,
If not looks like it's not manifold

Ive got the exact same noise ...and i mean exact same rattely ticking pattern as yours coming from my vx220, It happens when cold an disappears when the engine gets to 90º. Evocarlos did my chains last year (big respect for the undertaking) so I'm puzzled as to what this is. I've got a local garage on the case this afternoon Investigating. Will report back.

You will have to let me know what the garage says. As I really dont want to take the side casing off, I keep making excuses not to.

But today was a good excuse. I took my girlfriend to do her theory test (which she past). So I dont mind leaving it for another day hahaha.

i got septicemia from your vx220 lol had something stab me in the finger and it went bad lol
would be good to know whats found as it may also help dave
Its all your fault then @evocarlos hahahha.

He did my chains aswell. Did you have fai chains ?
it was gm chains
if its to do with the chains it will be tensioner related i can't see how it could be anything else not in such a short time

Could I pull the tensioner out the back and have a look? I thought if it was the same kits it would be the same fault hmmmmmm

I dont blame you carl really, only messing hahahha. With all the chains being new I would say it must be something that the chains run, like the water pump or oil pump? Not sure soooooo. I think hopefully see what this garage finds on the vx220. Or I investigate tomorow.

you could but the engine would have to be in tdc before hand so it dont jump not sure what you would gain from removing it other than stripping it down and cleaning it out then refitting

It shouldt be dirty really then. Oil was new just a week or so before you fitted the new chains then I did the oil again last week. It has been serviced regularly before I got it and every 3000/4000 miles since iv owned it. So like you say no real point. So in that same thinking is there any point taking the side off. I dont know now. Anyone wanna buy a scrap vectra c. Hahah
