Z22SE Zafira 2.2 SRi EGR Blanked but can't see cheat on wiring

Hi All,

Bought the car off a family member as a none runner that was going to be scrapped because the local Bristol Street Motors said it would cost her over £2000 to get it working again. I eventually found the problems being the ECU unit and an alternator, so swapped them out with a second hand ones off ebay Now everything turns on and the engine purrs (only 54000 on an 04), but the engine lights on all the time. Got a friend to put his diagnostics machine on it and it came back as the EGR value problem.

Looked up this website and bought a blanking plate and the cheat, even before checking the car. When I checked, I found the car already had the blanking plate on, but having opened the plastic around the wiring loom I couldn't find any EGR cheater, or even the plug socket as seen on your shop, for the cheat to go into!!

Tried to turn the EGR error off using Scan Tools software that came with a Bluetooth OBD2 dongle, but it just comes back on.

My question is, would someone on the original ECU been able to turn it off permanently, so doesn't need the cheater, or should I be still looking for some hidden EGR cheater?

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers,
Steve

yes thats right matt
very early on with my car back in 2005 there was a fault with the ecu and at the time i asked them to removed the egr valve and blank it off to stop the inevitable failure of the valve
the ecu was reflashed with an updated software and the egr was shut off
the plug has been left hanging in the engine bay for the last 7years
i finally cut the plug off close to the ecu when i fitted the supercharger as its not been used

if you ask one of the techs at vx he may be able to sps program the egr out of the system im not sure how its done as mine was done under a warranty claim

ive never had any issues with the eml coming on at all and when using op com the egr has no registered activity ""see pic""
