2.4 Inlet General 2.4 Inlet Manifold Questions

It is as Vocky says "more or less bolt on".
I was busy with installing it for about 8hours, maybe even more.
Just read all the info here and in the "how to install" topic, and also here, the excellent guide made by Mark :)
http://www.verboom.net/projects/speedst ... index.html
and it should work. But be patient on some things you have to do (removing the old MF and fiddling into place the new one for example  ).

the 2.4 inlet has no egr system 'what so ever' so nothing to blank on that :)

you can either leave the outlet open, like my vx220 or make a cover dunno..

I think I'm confused over this, so I'll wait till i've checked my own car tomorrow to see what's currently linked to what before I ask any questions that are probably stupid :)

vocky, I'm not quite clear on this bit:

"connect up the fuel pressure regulator to the new servo one way valve with a new piece of tubing (vectra's have loads of this pipe under the bonnet, use a scrappy) "

I thought the new valve was between the brake servo and the inlet manifold? Could you clarify that and maybe provide some pictures please?

There is no vacuum take off on the 2.4 manifold, so what Vocky is suggesting is to use the servo one way valve between the brake servo and the manifold (the one you are talking about) as a vacuum take off. The standard one way valve has no take off on it, but GM do a part with 12.5mm connectors (one to go to the manifold and one to the brake servo) which also has a take off nipple. The part no. is 90373359

originally I fitted the fpr vacuum take off on the intake pipe, but found no vacuum, so moved it to the servo one way valve.

here is a pic, you can just make out the new position (I have highlighted it with the red squares)

I'v got a Rover 400 20ltr turbo diesel in at the moment and this also has a 8.5mm one way valve with a vacuum take off just thought i'd let ya know just in case there are no corsa's / astra's in the scrappy's lol

the valve to go from manifold to brake servo

It says the VX has the valve with the thick and thin ends, but mine has already got a thick&thick valve. Is that right?

also, he connects this back onto the inlet manifold...
http://www.verboom.net/images/speedster ... acuum3.jpg

but didn't you say that the 2.4 doesn't have a connection for the brake vacuum?

some came with a different size servo take off, my vectra had the larger type and my vx220 the smaller type :?

the second link shows the servo take off connected, the missing take off is for the fpr vacuum small black pipe :)

Vacuum take off

Right lets get this sorted once and for all lol

Below is a pic of an inlet manifold fitted to the z22se as you can see in front of my fingers there are 2 vacuum take off pipes.
acdn.z22se.com_userpix_100_DSCF0012_4.jpg

On the vectra 1 is used to operate the heater flaps inside the car and the other can used to operate the FPR (fuel pressure regulator) (if you have carried out this MOD?)

The 2.4 inlet has wait for it NONE
So what Vocky is surgesting is to replace the servo one way valve pic below
acdn.z22se.com_userpix_100_DSCF0009_3.jpg

with one of a corsa or astra which has a vacumm take of pic below
acdn.z22se.com_userpix_100_DSCF0010_2.jpg

so you can use this to operate your heater flaps inside the car or your FPR or if you need to operate both you will need the valve with 2 take off's (sorry no pics but as above with 2 take off pipes)

Hope this helps cheers..

page 1 lists the usa part numbers, you will have to import them or wait until the tuning companies start stocking them in the uk

I'm sure someone local could fit it for you

it's a pressure relief valve, it was deleted on later spec engines :)

the earlier spec inlet also has a larger servo vacuum take off :?

ah and after reading the thread about moving the FPR pipe from the pipework to the mani, this makes even more sense.

that means this guy should get our 3 connection valve, he's still using the connector on his modified pipe work..

thanks for the help.... clever things these cars cheers..

p.s. I'm going to donate you the £10 for the egr cheater now so I can get a head start before the courtenay 2.4s come and everyone realises they need one.... :D
