Mileage correction finally done

The old clocks mileage was 206924 when I fitted the autolights. I'd only gone just down the road a little way when they blow the instrument panel. The replacement clocks mileage was 79038 on fitment and at moment of correction was 80805.

therefore............ 206924 + (80805-79038) = 206924 + 1767 = 208691 (the most accurate mileage I have to put in :)).

Just over a year ago I had been driving about 18000 miles per year but with my change in job location and cycling I'm down to about 7000 mile per year :).

Front Brakes Upgraded

Ever since the rear brakes were upgraded from drums/shoes to disc/pads I have been keen to upgrade the fronts. After plenty of reseach and help from Phil, MarkC and Paul_Bunce (thanks guys :)), I opted for 4 stud 280mm setup. This meant finding the donor parts which were cleaned up and resprayed or replaced. The discs and pads were brand new and the calipers had seal kit refurbs.

The 256mm setup which has a combined steering knuckle and caliper carrier...

aimg11.imageshack.us_img11_4825_1ims.jpg

All the brakes and hubs removed...

Wheel bearings being removed from 256mm steering knuckle...

aimg69.imageshack.us_img69_4817_uokv.jpg

Disaster...... The wheel bearing gave up on a saturday afternoon :( - new one required from the local motor factors (I got a decent one but at a premium...)

aimg24.imageshack.us_img24_1483_dpzu.jpg

And this is why I sold the braided brake hoses, as I knew luck wasn't on my side...

The 280mm's fitted with sprayed matt black steering knuckles & discs; and painted red caliper & caliper carriers :D. Sorry, I forgot to get pics whilst putting back together but will have the wheels off again soon so I'll get some more pics then.

I'm bedding them in very slowing, with no excessive braking at all for a good few hundred miles. I'm really pleased with the way they look despite my dirty wheels as they fill out the wheel much better :).

Very impressive :)

Thanks :) - More to come. Audio getting a facelift because the Creative USB soundcard is 'doing my head in!'. I'm going USB DAC - Equaliser - Amps instead, and giving the sub it's own Amp. Also adding a reverse parking sensor setup to the PC, some fancy switches to control the PC and heater control panel upgrade very soon :).

Cheers,
Dave

Audio upgrade making slow progress....

I don't need this Pioneer DEH-P2600R head unit anymore

....

DAC

This is the DAC I have selected for the PC audio conversion from digital to analogue - HiFimeDIY Sabre USB. I'm assured the quality of sound from this little beauty is amazing

with 112db DNR and 2.2v RMS output level.

Equaliser

This is the Equaliser I have selected to provide the front/rear/sub channels - Boss AVA1210 7 Band Equaliser with SNR 110db and 8v RMS output.

Sub Amp

This is the Sub Amp I have selected - JBL GT5-A402 bridgeable two channel Amp

The only peice of the JBL GT5 series I'm missing now is the GT5-500c 13cm (5.25") components for the rear. I've seen them on eBay so will probably purchase soon. Now just to install it all

PC Front End Screen

I've created two front end screen today for my Car PC File Synchronisation and Wifi Manager. I'm only able to get a pic of the Wifi Manager from my desktop, so here it is:

Obviously, the desktop is not wireless is lacks any wifi information :)

PC Front End Screens

I know, update fever today but I thought it would be easier to get some screen dumps from the car to help explain the File Synchronisation and Wifi Manager screens I have created today.

File Synchronisation

The File Synchronisation screen can be set to automatically detect when the file path is available, in this case my USB stick. A visual representation help to show file transfer progress.

aimg812.imageshack.us_img812_426_9cdb.png

Wifi Manager

The Wifi Manager screen allows me to view the Wifi Networks available and locks onto paired networks.

I tend to use my USB stick but could just as easily setup to file sync to my desktop via the wireless connection. I have a purpose built USB port being added very soon so I don't have to dive into the glove box :). I could even use the cloud via my mobile ;).

Night Shot

I prefer the Cree LEDs over the standard as the light output appears to be superior and colour is good.

Are they brighter, or just a more white light?

Brighter and more focused I would say. It's the equivalent of having mini projector headlights instead of reflectors on the rear.... That said, I've got another type of cree bulb coming early next week to try, and they should be better still - I'll obviously update then too :).
