Bought an Vectra B caravan with broken engine.
Previous owner told that it started to make some noise from engine compartment, then he drove it to garage.
Mechanics changed cam chain, rod bearings (slight marks in second one), balance shaft chain (i guess, part no in bill is 615418) and some seals and oils too.
And it says in that bill that engine had about 1 litre of oil when it was bought to carage.

This didn´t cure that noise so previous owner sold it to me because he didn´t want to spent any money with it..

Car has 144000 KM in it so it´s like 90k in miles.

Okay then, first start when i got it, it clunks pretty bad before oli pressure is up. some noise comes under cam cover too. No visible blue smoke from back box.
After towing the car to my house i used the engine at idle about 10 mins to recognise those noises it creates. Next morning washed the car and drove it to my own garage, it made huge cloud of blue smoke behind it after start, but smoking stopped pretty soon. It idles quite good, some ticking is coming still under cam cover, little hunting on revs at 2000 rpm. then i made compression test and it showed same on all cylinders.

My thoughts at this point are that it had been droven on low oil and timing had then jumped few teeths and broken some valve guides to add that oil usage.

Yesterday i started to take that engine apart to see what i could found.
First found is that cyl 4 ex side, one roller is pretty loose and it didn´t roll at all when turning the engine with starter, so prob. broken lifter in it.?
It rolled easily when turned by finger.

Called to the mechanic who fitted chain kit and he said that timing was ok when he started to repair that engine.
He said that 2nd rod bearing was almost completely gone so probably need´s new rod and bearing shell´s. He was pretty sure that head is 100% ok besides that one lifter. Crankshaft has some marks in it so it´s open what do with it.

So now i have to solve that crankshaft, rod, and oil problem...

Today i need to remove exhaust, cams, chain to remove head. So i´ll write more when done this..
