FINAL STEPS BEFORE REMAP...ADVISE NEEDED

I ride a vx220 and these are my engine mods so far:

· Removed precat
· MAGNAFLOW cat
· Disabled ERG (physically not electrically)
· VSE exhaust
· ITG intake filter
· 2.4 intake manifold
· Dbilas exhaust manifold
· Fidanza lightened flywheel
· Stage I Comp Camps

I'm planning to do a remap, but first I would like to go for the Saturn Ion 2.0 SC 68mm TB and the Saturn Ion 2.0 bigger injectors.

Should I benefit from the bigger TB and injectors without ported head and other mods? I've reviewed all I have to do to install the 68mm TB and I think is possible, but I' still a bit confused with the injectors...do those need anything more or are they just "plug and play"?

I would be very happy to see my car with 180-190 BHP after the map! drool.gif

the bigger tb would be better with a ported head, same with the injectors.

they need the extra flow from a ported head.

So I should remap first and leave the bigger TB and injectors until I can port the head, isn't it?

I would leave it as it is, then fit a ported head and a bigger tb, then get a remap to suit

Don't change the injectors unless you really have to - it'll turn a relatively straight forward ECU recalibration process into a nightmare for the people doing the remap.

The standard injectors are fine for anything up to about 200hp and I doubt with your modifications you'll be above that figure.

Sorry to change the subject but how have you found the Fidanza lightened flywheel as it is quite a bit lighter than the other lightened flywheels on the market. Is smoothness of the engine badly affected affected?

Sorry to stay off topic chaps!

I have the Courtney lightened flywheel and balance shafts removed, tickover was ultra smooth, but when i fitted the Piper cams what a nightmare i had with the tickover. over 2K the engine was great but drivability in traffic was frustrating to say the least having to ride the clutch but worst was the tickover. The engine was hunting, surging back and forth rocking the car. Tried the 2.4 manifold and changing the exhaust to balance the flow accross the engine at low revs, but I've now took them out and put the standard cams back in. Got my spare stock engine in at the mo, I'm going along the lightening route now instead being really happy with the flywheel and b'shafts removed. Next is the crank then will be getting it all rebalanced.
