Wasnt sure weather to go with the 2.4l throttle body as I'm worried it wont work as in markv's case? But i've gone ahead anyway, seems daft not to as it should make combined postage cheaper? I'm just hoping that the problems mark is getting is down to the nethelands strict emissions control in the ecu or because he has standard cams? I dunno but I cant see why a 68mm sc throttle would work and not the same 68mm 2.4l unit? dunno.. fingers crossed hey :)

No, it is not a Dutch emissions thing :). The ECU has a table which has the throttle position and how much air pressure to expect in the manifold for that position. It will compare that to the actual measured pressure in the manifold by the MAP sensor. If they differ more then 30kPa, it will log the P1514.

So if you have better flow then my engine (by fitting cams, flowed head, bigger valves, wasted stem valves, exhaust manifold) the pressure difference will be less. As long as it is within this tollerance you should not see P1514.

The problem is though, that we know with Vocky's state of tune it isn't a problem, but we don't know where the crossover point is.

Thanks mark, that description helps clear the issue up. I may have a snippet of info that resolves the matter further. Ffoeg, registered on this forum but mainly a user of www.astrasport.co.uk has a 68mm throttle body on the standard 2.2 manifold and piper cams, and as far as i'm aware he had no problems. Hopefully he will read this thread and confirm this in due corse, but the cross over point in this case would seem to be the addition of cams alone! Which depending how you look at it is good news! hopefully! As I have piper cams fitted, I should be ok and will let you know just as soon as its all fitted.

Just recived this email from them regarding the postage Johnny :-

Hello Adam,

Thank you for the order. Unfortunately, we have been informed that the
pricing on your items has changed. The correct discounted prices are $147.57
for the intake manifold and $136.22 for the throttle body. Shipping to you
would be $85. We apologize for the change and wanted to know if you wanted
us to go forward with the order at the correct price. We look forward to
hearing from you.

Thanks again,
Mike

Fappin fook!! BARGAIN!! I'm ordering mine from Autoparts People, I think its the link a few posts down on the 1st page, 'trademotion'??

I'm still waiting on an email back from them.

Cheeky buggers your people though. I reckon they've had a rush of enquiries and bumped the price!!

you will have a very long wait, they only email when an order has been received

I guessed as much, so I took your advice and just ordered them. If the postage was too expensive I could have just canceled the order when they emailed me. When they emailed about the postage costs I replied confirming the order and also asked if they could ensure the gaskets came complete with the manifold and if not, to supply them extra and debt my account. I'm sorry vocky, If id have thought forward I could have asked for an extra set and sent them you.

The 4 off rubber inlet manifold seals, are they a bit Hit 'n' Miss as to if they are in the box with the manifold?? Also, the extra seal called a 'PCV Seal' that sits between ports 2 and 3, does this normally come with the manifold or is this seperate too?

I phoned Saturn Parts in the USA today but forgot to ask them.

my 2.4 came without any gaskets, others came with a full set dunno..

the only different gasket is the 'pcv' seal, all the rest can use the standard 2.2 gaskets :)

Thank you for all the pieces of information provided for this mod.
I've read on an other forum that there is a group buyon this forum for this manifold but the only thread i found here has been locked.
Is there something else ?

Thanks

Hum vocky.... just noticed another thing...
Your manifold came WITHOUT the map sensor ? notsure.gif

Mine came not only with all the gaskets but with the MAP sensor fitted !
I really think you may ask for some kind of refund...
