@evocarlos Yeh have a bit of tube that goes round the bolt to act as a spacer and push the guide to the block. The fact that the bolt doesn't go flush against the block shouldent be a problem then?
Also have smothed the edge on the balance sprocket and the washer is hardly rubbing now do you think I can get away with leaving them on?

dont think it will be a problem when the spacer is fitted :)
and like i said in pm if the ring behind the washer is free moving then it will be fine :)

F&$@ing Lucas balance chain!! Went to put on and crank sprocket twists on the crank either way about 3mm. So now have to get another chain kit:( wanted to finish balance today and main tommorow gues its all on Friday now. There isn't anyway of getting a decent balance kit same day is there?

is the key still in the crank ?

Yep even put the old one back on to check that I wasn't losing the plot and that was solid, the Lucas kit looked generally weaker than the old one:meh:
How bad would it be if I cleaned the old balance tensioner and left old chain on? The old one didn't look that bad and all the guides were ok. Only I really need the car by Friday and money's tight to get the original from VX at the moment, and assuming that I get her all up and running this time, I could do the balance chain later maybe.

Ok so got both chains on in the right place I hope :)
Had a problem with the balance chain tensioning guide bolt the new one sheared when trying to get to 10nm got it out but tightend the others to 6nm only has didn't won't to have more problems will that be enough? Also my torque wrench only goes up to 80 will that be enough for the cams and if not any ideas on how many more turns over I would need to do?
The tensioner on the balance chain doesn't seem to be overly tight either I assume that will improve when it has oil pressure. With the main tensioner I can just activate it with a lever bar from the top can't i?
