Signum key remote transpnder replacement.

Hi all,

Has anyone attempted to replace the transponder on one of their Signum keys. The type that's soldered to the PCB. Going to have a go at my spare as I think it's been coded before as using op-com to try and program it just brings up a programming failed error message. This happens when trying to do it as a new key or as an old one.
Will let you know what happens.

Good thing I did find out is that mine only has one key programmed to the car so I know (hopefully) that no one has another other than I suppose a plain key with no remote lock/unlock.

Signum and Vectra C ones (I assume) have the chip soldered to the PCB unlike Zafira A ones which are separate. I have two pics, one of the chip on the board and one with it removed.
Pic with chip in place.

Pic with chip removed (one of the solder points came off but it's not actually connected to anything (top right corner).

If it doesn't work then I've only lost a few quid as it didn't work anyway, lol. If soldering a new chip on works then that's saved me a fair bit of money.

just googled it and saw the pics of the chip on ebay
if the pad has come off the pcb then the soldering iron is too hot for the job or held on far too long :)

it may still need programming to the car with opcom/tech 2 with the new chip i like the mk4 key for their simplicity lol

Yeah possibly right Carl, was not easy trying to hold three different things at once. Should have got my helping hands out and used them, lol. Now I have an Op-Com, I should be able to program it to the car to start it and then to lock/unlock it. Once I figure out how to do the lock/unlock bit, lol.

Yeah Carl, love the fact that I've saved myself the cost of having to buy and get programmed another key just so I have a spare.
