got to love the astras then 20mins off and on lol

Yep. Thats why we used the Astra for most of the development, lol :D

Then just cross reference with the VX220. Still had to do 4/5 fitments to get it 100% right tho :(

Its all good now tho.

Yeah, its not the easiest job on earth is it :(

nope.. :( If I had to do it again I'd invest in some ratchet spanners.. know the ones I mean, they're spanners but have ratchet on the circular end... they would make it a lot easier :)

Got some of them and they still didnt fit :x

Mine is on too. I also noticed a strange sound, possibly due to a leak. I fastened the screws a bit more and now the sound is much less and seems to disappear when warm. Sounds like what rik1083 reported earlier.
I recorded some movies (heatshield not fastened yet).

Cold:

Warm:

@rik1083: is this what it sounds like with you?
@Garry: is this ok, or should i change anything?

Thanks,
Maurice.

yup deff a leak on the manifold face plate let it warm up and then be carefull as it gets bloody hot and do the nuts up as when it warm the metal will move and form alot easyer as the flage does warp a tad when they are wealding it as it get too hot.

I do not want to stress my head studs to much with fitting this warped flange, so I straightened it first =>
Clamped it to a heavy piece of metal and put some heat on it... It needed A LOT of heat, but now my flange is at least straight. (y)

And while I was in the workshop it was a good time to close off the EGR channel. (welded)
My dremel is also cooling down from all the excessive inside welds I smoothed, but now it looks and should flow pretty OK.

Time for fitting. :D

i tightened the nuts some more with a hot engine. That worked: now that strange sound is gone and everything seems ok. I'm very happy that i was able to solve it like this, was afraid i had to take it off and start over again (with maybe a new flange).
test run tomorrow.

Fitted my (Dremel tweaked  ) piper manifold + 2,5 catpipe today.

Maybe because I disconnected my ECU a while, but I have a notorious dip in power ~3500rpm. Also after some driving through that rev range, it still feels like there is not enough fuel there. :eh: Go above 3800 and it is just like a switch till redline.
(Edit: It's not like the original midrange dip, but really no power between 3300-3700rpm..)
But an M62 will probably fix this. :D

Ow, and after some spirited driving I now have a engine light + fan running. :problem: The 2nd Lambda is not liking that 200cel cat..
Do we have a working MIL eliminator scheme around here?
