Hello From Wales !

Evening all, after fitting a saab b205 engine in my astra van I've recently picked up a 2.2 3dr astra sri as I've always had a soft spot for one !
I bought the astra for a measly £80 with the timing chain snapped but was in great condition overall.I stripped the head replaced all the valves, cleaned the sump and fitted a new chain. The chain had snapped pulling off at low rpm by the looks of it as there was minor indents in the pistons. Now it runs great but a little heavy on oil but......... when dipping to check the oil I've found you need to leave the dipstick in for around 10 seconds as if i put it in and pull straight out (no pun intended !) its as if the oil will not stick to the end weird so to be monitored.
I have got an leh engine available which I'm intending on building a twin charger system on over next year.

Got to say so much great info on here and hope i can help others out along the way.
Cheers Liam

just on with a b207r project at the minute, but 2.2 astra pistons + conrods ,b207r block , veccy 2.2yh crank, z20net head , astra conrods the weak point , hopefully fully forged this time next year,,,,,,,,,

Thanks folks will be doing some research on the best head and block combo on the 2.2 crank but with forged pistons and uprated rods as the gm rods look a little weak
