Dilemma - what to do?

Sorry for the post in general tuning but it covers a number of the more individual areas.

I've currently got a VX220 with the TMS StageII+ conversion (Milltek system and cat, ITG and remap) but have started to gather bits and pieces together for some more involved work. The bits I've got parked in the garage currently are:-

Standard 58mm throttle body (DIY ported and polished)
2.0SC (68mm) throttle body
2.4 inlet manifold
ECU and dipstick relocation brackets
2.0SC (green) injectors
Ported and polished cylinder head (with all the valve gear and cams prefitted but standard cam profiles, we think. Although the lift seemed to be a bit higher than standard?)
EGR blanking plate
EGR cheater

Assuming I can actually find someone trustworthy enough to fit it and much as it pains me, I may well have to stump up for the TMS 4-1 exhaust mainfold due to the lack of alternatives that will mate to the Milltek. Now, do I go with the 2.0SC TB, use the standard but ported TB or hope that Courtenay come up with the fabled "box of tricks" and locate a 2.4 TB? Which way is likely to be best and causes least grief?

Camshafts? Seems sensible whilst I've got the head off and need to replace the chain etc. But what cams? I'd like the Schricks but really don't want to pay that money and have any more head work done for the springs to fit. Piper - not sure I really like the idea of regrinds and seems there have been a few lumpy idle issues of late. Catcams? AllEcotec cams? I'd really like the cams to either improve or maintain the low speed tractability of the engine and not butcher the idle and am happy for them to deliver most of their gains from 4,000rpm upwards. And then what sort of cam profile should I be looking for (will probably be limited to 7,000rpm).

Vocky, if you read this, where did you get the plugs and socket for your 2.0SC TB wiring loom extension (below) or can you make one up for me, for a suitable donation?

Any ideas or comments, welcome!!

I would do the work yourself if you have a garage dunno..

use the head and cams, you can always change the cams at a later date if they're standard :)

use the 2.0 sc TB, it's bigger than a 2.4 TB anyway 8)

I can rewire your existing TB plug and give you a helping hand, I'm not exactly far away :)

remove clam and then offer free food and drink for some help

Thanks for the offer of help Vocky. Copious amounts of quality food and drink are always on offer here. thumbup

Have the garage space, it's just the knowledge that is somewhat lacking. Slindborg said I should DIY it yesterday but to somebody who's never done more than change brake pads and discs, the oily stuff is all a little scary. It's not the dismantling but the putting back together and waiting for the expensive sounding crunch the first time I try to turn over the engine. cry..

So, 2.0SC TB is the way to go then? That's good news. You didn't by any chance make a template of the 6mm adapter plate you made up for it, did you?

cheers..

I'm sure with some help you can do all the work in your garage :)

hardest part is finding space for the rear clam, a conservatory comes in handy

I can make an adaptor plate for you too :)

you could even pop the engine out, fit a lightened flywheel and remove the balancer shafts dunno..

a nice little upgrade project and 200+ bhp at the end 8)
