Hey all,
Wondering if anyone can help with what has completely stumped myself and also my dad.
I recently purchased a Vectra Elite Estate, unfortunately with the Z22YH engine.
The original cause of sale by the previous owner was a fuel leak. Upon checking the origin of this leak it appears to be coming from Injector 4 (furthest away from the timing chain) where the Injector rail sits ontop of the Injectors. A small black o-ring smaller than your fingertip.
Went to vauxhall and ordered the o-ring kit for these injectors and replaced them which appeared to cure the fault. Taking the car a run multiple points driving no faster than 40mph and it was fine. Took the car onto the motorway which then caused Injector 1's seal to burst...
Got the car home and replaced the Injector 1 seal, lubricating it (and the others) to ensure low friction when putting the rail back on. After replacing the seal and getting back home and doing the motor way for 3/4 times for 40 minutes a go it appears to have been fine.
Last night when returning home again about to go onto the motorway decided to pull away quite quickly from the lights and up onto the motorway, significantly pulling harder than i have been since replacing the seals. Got home and heard that dreaded noise of the High Pressure fuel leaking. Again, injector 4 seal completely tore to shreads and checking the other seals, Injector 1 and Injector 3 seals have very slight tearing on them.
Apart from that, the car has been fine, no lack of power, no warning lights and no pending DTC's.
We can only suggest a couple of possible issues and wondered if anyone could suggest anything?
Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated!
Thanks
- Ryan

- The injector rail may has slight sharp edges that is "nicking" the seals and as the engine vibrates is causing the seal to fail under high load.
- The pressure regulator is allowing too much pressure under high load which is then in turn causing the seals to fail
- The high pressure fuel pump is over pressuring the whole system
Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated!
