I asked my local Vauxhall dealer what they would put in it as it had semi-synthetic in it for the previous 2 oil changes before i bought it. They said I could stick with the semi so that's what I've done. I've used it in my 2.5 Omega and my 2.0 Cav before that and it has always done well as far as I can make out. I still think the secret is keeping it changed regularly which I've always done.
the oil you buy from the dealers is not the same oil used if you have the oil change at vx as they have a big barrel of morris's oil and they put that in imo the one off the shelf is of better quality (delco oil) gm branded the same as slipped from autovaux
For me if semi synthetic is good enough for my daytona 955 to 11000rpm and my 600 to 14000rpm i'm sure its good enough for a 2.2 four pot astra. Although I agree that 10,000 seems a bit high, I'll be doing an intermediate o and f change.
Just to add that AUDI RECOMMEND this oil for there diesal TDI on any thing up to 20.000 intervals ie long life. that does seem a long time but i have had first hand experiance with it and found the oil to perform ok... me being a fussy git will also be changing the oil soon but then i get it free
