Back in a Vauxhall after a short stint over at Citroen then Ford.Feels good tbh as Vauxhall is what i know best so made sense.Anyway loved my old Mk4 and always said i would have another but a better spec'd 1.So picked up this 2001 SRi 2.2 16v.102k with some S/H.Bodywork is near mint with no rust,just 2 tiny pin dents on the doors.Liking it so far,goes good,drives nice,spec'd up with trip comp and cruise control(awesome for saving fuel).

Its nothing special or rare,but here's some pics before i start changing things.

Picking up some lowering springs 2moz and have done the V part of the grille and the badge surround matt black.Looks better i think.Future plans are colour code the side-strips,late spec tinted rears and split and darken the fronts(which i dont really want to do on this set as they look brand new,nice and clear).

Yeah i was surprised how clean it was too,even inside is immaculate.Was up for 1200 but got it for 900 so cant argue with that.

Will get some more pics this week once the springs are on.

Its got a slight running problem that im trying to get to the bottom of.Dosnt affect the car or driving etc,just on tickover its a tad lumpy.Already ruled out quite a few things,next to try is plugs and remove the pre-cat.Other than that its spot on and tbh,its very minor.The GF didnt even notice it nor did mates etc.Cant hear it from outside,just when sitting in the seat can see the dash lights flickering.

Got the springs fitted on Sat morning after work.Also smoked the side repeaters DIY style with a wee jar of smoke model paint instead of forking out for another set off ebay.Next up will be the headlights split and done Gsi/late spec style with the dark inserts.And when i can get into the garage i will get the door strips CC'd.

Not sure on how low it is tbh.The springs i got were 2nd hand and only have "Motorsport Astra 98-04" written on them.Guy i got them off said 40mm.Front dosn't look 40mm as my old mk4 was 60/40 on Spax springs and it was a tad lower at the front.Ride comfort is spot on too for what i think is non branded springs.Feels exactly the same as before i fitted them but a bit more sharper into the corners.

Gave the Astra a wee clean 2day and took some pics seeing as i don't have any decent 1s since replacing a few bits.....

Not got much more to do to it,just lower a wee bit more at the front,new plain number plates trimmed at the edges,some carbon vinyl on the b pillars,wind deflectors,and an Irmy roof top spoiler if i can find 1.

Thanks.The wheels are what make the car i think.

Got them for 90quid but they were in a state,badly kerbed on the faces and rims.Spent a few hours sanding them down then few coats of high build and they were all good for spraying Star Silver.

Few people have said to colour code the skirts but im trying to keep it SRi poverty spec OEM+ if you know what i mean.If anything i would get Irmscher skirts but not fussed.

Oh and its needing the chain done.Started rattling 2night so will get 1 ordered and hopefully done at the weekend.

Took the chance for some new pics after doing cpl of wee bits to the Astra.Namely Gsi style B pillars,colour coded "V" grille,fresh plates and a tad lower at the front......

Think thats me done with it,maybe try get some wind deflectors and the pin dents in the doors popped out.

The wheels really set it off ! I really dont know why Vauxhall never fitted these to the Astra Hatch in the first place! I also think colour coding the door handles will make a huge difference. Especially since you have done the door pillars in black.

The wheels did look good on the hatch.

Not anymore though.Swapped them today for some 18" VXR reps.
