Engine chain info and pics...

Exactly Jim -- had the full chain kit fitted on my 2001 sri and it was 8 months out of warranty at the time.

Vauxhall did this f.o.c. but at the time i had to take it up with Luton -- has i stands now the 2.2 chain will be covered for 60k or 6 years whichever comes first -- so at least thats a little piece of mind for us 2.2 owners.

Hi Guys,

Sorry to be telling you this but my car is a 51reg and had that tensioner but if you check my other post you will see that it still had the faulty oil feed nozzle to the timing chain as i have just found when my chain SNAPPED

Call VX and get it in writing that either your vehicle has been fixed by the re-work or its not affected by it, because sooner or later you will need it!!!

I should be ok as my recipt from Vauxhall said it had re work done to it on the timing chain so they must have done the nozzle also notsure.gif

yeah your car should be fine because it has had the rework, i was told that mine was not needed because it was not one of the affected vehicles when in fact it was still fitted with the defected nozzle, all the other parts had been taken away so i could not inspect the rest of it but the nozzle was blocked solid and without dought the cause of failure

I think you will find it's ALL early z22se engines which are affected :(

whether they are uk, usa, europe etc

Hi, i'm new, I'm from Australia.. yeah all jokes aside, just bought an 02 astra, when i start it it makes a little noise, kind of sounds like the starter moter sticking.. but it's a bit more rattley, it only lasts for like a second or less, just wondering if this is the dreaded timing chain? My Engine number is: 11089285.. any help would be appreciated :)
Thank you
Scott

11065400 was the start number for the new type chain, 11089285 should have the new type

but as for any suspicious noise, get it checked, to be safe

ring vx customer services, the engine numbers are for z22se engines only

corsa's never had a z22se engine fitted

quote the field remedy to them and get it sorted

don't forget to mention you have read about the problem on the internet

well first of all i'd keep at them mate, also it may help to print off a copy of the field remedy and take it to a dealer with you and show them it.

Also on the field remedy it clearly states what vehicles are affected, also the z22se was never fitted to the corsa so whoever dealt with you either don't know what they are talking about or is trying to fill you full of sh*t.

don't give up mate, if you get no joy with the person you speak to ask to speak to someone higher up.
