Re: egr/cheater problem

on OP-COM the reading should be 1.47v +- 0.02v with cheater.

without cheater iirc my egr was about 0.97v - egr was starting to play up a little bit

Re: egr/cheater problem

usually caused by the egr cheater being too quick, the latest egr cheaters are modified slightly - a 1.3 ohm resistor instead of a 1.5 ohm (y)

i only bought it in march and it has been doing it since i fitted it,i did not find out straight away as my code reader would not read it and i had a duff opcom reader which is now working

I'm happy to send you another cheater to try?

thanks i will let you know as i have plugged in my old egr valve and the readings are the same as the cheater so im now confused,i have cleared the codes and i will try the car to see if the light comes back on

voltage is 5v when the valve is open and 1v when closed
without actualy seeing the valve with the car being driven i can say the valve is shut,i have cleaned it up and made sure it was moving freely, one thing i did find out was when i activated the egr valve with the engine running the engine note changed and made it run rough, despite the egr valve not being plumbed in

When you run the test on OP-COM for the EGR valve it should completely stall the engine (with EGR plugged in). i would say its reasonable to assume without egr plugged in it would make the engine sound rough as you are telling the ecu to stall the engine.

Re: egr/cheater problem

well today the eml went off on its own and it has stayed off when cruising so touch wood it wont come back on,im using the original egr valve but only secured by one bolt ,it is still blanked off

Re: egr/cheater problem

well i have tried a genuine vauxhall egr, just plugged in and the readings showed the same as the original egr valve,so i unplugged the egr and yes i had the same readings,so i took a quick drive to my local asda without the egr plugged in and it brought no eml on,what was weired was on opcom the command egr was going up and down in the % box,how can it if no egr is plugged in?

Re: egr/cheater problem

to make it even more puzzling im getting the same readings and fault code with the egr unplugged,i have no eml at the moment but opcom gives p1404 fault code still (yes i did clear the codes)

either a bad connection at the ecu or the ecu has an internal software error, might need flashing with tech2 :(

i have had the problem for a while now,a couple of weeks a go i had a software update done, while tech2 was plugged in one fault code came up,to do with the throttle body fault, where opcom does not sow any issue with the throttle body, only to do with the egr valve
