Can anybody tell me a good brake upgrade for my 52 plate 2.2 zafira elegance, it has new discs and pads all round the rears that i done are Bembro so assume theyre good enough the fronts are unknown quality , but to be frank under heavy braking they are crap any thoughts please

thanks for reply i was thinking mintex parts but do you thnk the 308 upgrade is better choice and will it fit ok with 15 inch wheels? also where can i get them

I would go for 308 setup if I was you.

the 308 are very good once bedded in only problem is you will need a minimum of 17" i think some have fitted them behind 16" but i found they hit the spokes on my standard 16" coupe wheels
discs are like £70 a pair new from autovaux and the caliper brackets are £90ish new from lmfvauxhall
you can get a full used set from chris at csauto for just over a ton http://www.csautos.net/full-astra-5-stud-setup-with-308s-prod-20.html

308s will fit under 16s.
321s need min of 17s.

The stock size is fine if you use good quality pads and disks. My old 280mm ones out braked several friends 308s because they used cheap parts.

So do you think a good set of mintex or bembro disc and pads on the front to match the back would improve things? as my rims are really good nick so dont really want to change them for 16 inch if i dont need to
its not that i drive excessively fast all the time its just that when i need to i want to be able to stop?

I've heard good things about both but personally haven't tested them.
I use textar pads in mine which are pretty dam impressive on the 321s I have.

stainless lines make a bit of a difference to
ive had mintex extreme on my astra for 7 years can recommend them ive never used the brembos
but have genuine gm on ow and there good to

mintex 1144 pads are a great up grade but dont come cheep. standard genuine kit is good to with new fluid, stainless brake lines and cleaned up/ lubed up brake sliders. as already said you would need to go up to 16" rims with 308's and if you dont change your spare it can be a pain should you ever get a puncher on the front.

Many thanks for the responses, i guess i have some thinking to do, the brake fluid has been changed annually since the car was new and was don recently so that should be fine, think ill order some mintex stuff to start with as wheels are to good to junk,and will look at the sliders etc make sure everything moving easy, maybe upgrade to 308's when wheels need replacing, thanks once again

Cant recommend buying from csautos. The powersounderI ordered from there came poorly packaged (1 thin layer of bubble wrap in a plastic bag). When I opened the bag the part was drenched with corrosion down one side. Crap.

got my full climate control package from there but i did drive up there and fetch it

it most likely went in the bag clean and then the oooooz leaked out in transit 97.4% of all used power sounders will be full of water or battery acid i bought 3 then i got a good one
mine was a snow globe
