My wife has a 07 R56 cooper S, which we bought with 10253 miles on the clock and less than two years old.

Within two weeks of purchase it was back at the dealers having a new timing chain kit fitted - mileage 10492

Just had to replace the chain kit again, mileage 21259

So it's not even eight years old and on it's third timing chain kit

Crazy, old Aseries minis didnt have chains every 10000 miles. Scrap it

sadly it is the norm, MINI refuse to help once the warranty has run out

The guides were so brittle they simply fell apart when I removed the chain

At least the chains never snapped on mine, they have on many cars, Google 'mini chain rattle'

It wouldnt be 2 bad for me as I only do about 3000 miles a year so it would be 3 years running but 10000miles is a joke. Id get rid

My mate has a 57 plate and I think he is on his second or third set of chains as well total mileage of the car 36k!!!

I've always said you can't beat a well tuned original. My old 1275 had about 130bhp @ flywheel and would make the later 1.3i Coopers jealous.

HarleyPete, the mini probably was scrap but the reg and log book being re registered as a triumph was a waste of a historic mini identity i ment.
