head gasket a cause of zero compression?

Glad you got it fixed. It may only be for a while thou......if rings were stuck it may have scored the bore and done a little piston damage which may get worse over time. I bought a Y reg silver zaffy 2.2 from cambridge way and when i stripped it down i found 1 piston with a little bit missing...

head gasket a cause of zero compression?

bent or damaged valve(s), broken/missing rocker arm(s) if your not burning oil. Can also be damaged piston/bore which will cause you to burn oil unless you have none to burn.......

is it worth just changing the tensioner?

I agree with evocarlos - get both your chains replaced, its not worth the cost if it goes Pete Tong! And it very easily can! Replacing/resetting the tensioner should only be done to get you out of a very big hole like getting the car home or to someone who can replace the chains. I had a...

cam chain fitted with a twist

I really felt sorry for the car. It was an Elite model with colour sat-nav, full leather, climate etc etc. Only other bad point was the 6 speed box was starting to whine a bit.

    ABS/ TRACTION CONTROL HELP NEEDED

It most probably is a wiring fault. Ive got the same issue with my front offside hub. Wiring is damaged so flags up abs/tc light. OPCOM said open circuit fault so I just bought 2x new hubs, as the car has done 120k now and they are probably original hubs.
