The audi at work hasn't been running very well lately and my boss has gone away for a month and told me to take it home a night a week and give It a run 🙂 I've just taken it out for a couple of hours and given it a good thrash and it's running sweet 🙂 3.2 quattro and I want one

I will always have a vauxhall but it would make a nice daily for my tools and scaffold tower 🙂

3.2's are nice lovely barble to them. My mate had one in a A3 250bhp as standard but very very thirsty, I remeber going on a run with him it was doing 12mpg!

Yeah they like to drink it only does 21mpg driving normally

Not much to update on I'm stumped atm when I did the dash loom I dropped one of the copper connectors in the ignition switch and can't seem to find one anywhere once I've sorted that I can take it to my dad's garage and start work lol

Actually I did do this 🙂
I got a repair kit called scratch doctor I only used the filler and apart from the odd bit I could of done with going over more there pretty good I'm happy with them 🙂 they look 100% better being silver over anthracite I think

little update the dashloom has been changed I have tomorrow off work so I'm going to make sure everything's all good then Saturday it's going for mot and next week I can start will the supercharge conversion 🙂

or though it doesn't affect anything since changing the dash loom my temperature gauge doesn't work and I cannot find anything wrong.. It was working before so i presume it's something I've done but maybe it's the thermostat anyone got any ideas?

If the thermostat was stuck open it would just take longer to warm up - gauge should still work though.
If it was stuck closed the car would probably overheat at some point.

So odds are that there's a fault in the loom or a connection somewhere.
Is the connection to the CTS on OK as that controls the temp gauge ?

Vectra gauges dont move when the stat gets stuck open unless your sat in traffic I hear.

iv heard it alot on the vectra pages on facebook so may be a stuck stat. But odds are you have done something.

Thermostat failed in the open pposition.

I'm not sure it's had a new coolant temp sensor about a month ago and it was working perfectly before I changed the loom it's like the gauge isn't connected but the instrument panel all lights up as it should..
I took it to get some petrol earlier and it was fine the heaters all work and when I got back there was no extreme pressure in the pipes which makes me think it can't be stuck closed.. its only been parked up for 2 weeks and it's been moved and running a few times I'm confused..

Mine failed in the open position so the water just went past the the thermostat. I still had warm air coming through the vents but the gauage never moved. Changed thermostat and back to normal.

Pull the stat n drop it in boiling water n watch it move, if it doesnt move you know its faulty.

I've never changed the thermostat so it's probably worth changing anyway its just strange it happened all of a sudden the same time I changed the loom lol
its gone for its mot today so my dad's got it ill have a look when it comes back cheers guys

Also the rubber seals around the thermostats tend to perish allowing coolant to bypass.

Its worth checking cos its a easy 10min job n you can rule it out then.
