the cam lobes on cylinder four (next to the gearbox) should be pointing slightly towards each other (looking from the cam chain end the inlet should be at about 1 'O' clock and the exhaust at about 11 'O' clock), then the cam chain timing should be set.

If you aligned cylinder 1 (next to chains) then the timing will be 180 out.

Thanks Vocky, i do believe that is what i have done... which according to the book i bought tells me to do it that way :confused:

i will get onto resetting the camshafts tomorrow. and see how it goes then. if anyone has anyphotos that could help that would be great? the book i got seems to have some mistakes in it 🙁

Well its now running again!!! so thanks evocarlos for the info with out it i would still be scratching my head!

feeling much relived now its running again. just need to tidy up and then i can start on my projector headlights!

well i took the Astra out for its first test run on the road today... bonnet off, windows down and sun on the skin. must say felt good after all that work!

here are some pictures from right after!

Gave it a quick wash too! just have to put the bonnet back on and should be as good as new!
for my next little project i will be adding Angel eyes/projector headlights with HIDs!

but for now im content with how she looks at the moment.

Hey cheers for that, yeah i do have plans further in the year for a coilover replacement. but at the moment just doing some little mods.

Was wondering if anyone on here was good at photoshop?? im looking at putting some 18" rims and coil overs on for my next project.
would anyone be kind enough to photo shop these rims onto my car? and if you could give it a 'lowered' sports look?

Hey guys, just an update, car is running well and feels great to drive! been very busy with studys but hoping to have a few days off soon. just a question, does anyone know how to take the certer console out? (the silver one) i want to re spray it as it has a few scratches over it.

Hey guys, so im getting some parts together over the next month or two (depending on money and time off from studies)
if anyone knows a good price on EBC stuff brake pads, braided brake lines and a bigger front anti-sway bar that would be great!
