Evening all,
I’ve used this site many a time to help find resolutions to problems and it’s been awesome.
Now though, it’s time to register and ask you guys for some help.
So, my YH now has just over 70k on the clock. Full service history and regular 5w 30 FS oil changes. No sign of cam chain/sprocket change.
It’s has a, what I can only describe as a kinda clicking or light rattle. It starts from initial startup but seems to disappear when the revs rise. But, it reappears on tickover. I’ve used a mechanics ‘stethoscope’ to try and help identify the noise and it appears to come from the fuel regulator. Much of the fuel pump, fuel sensor, associated pipe work and indeed the regulator itself look relatively new.
I’m pretty sure it’s not the chains but would like to check their condition at some point soon.
Should any part of the direct fuel injection system make ticking noises (apart from the injectors themselves)?
Oh, there’s no engine light on but the tick over from cold is pretty lumpy.
