Project 200

Hi All

I had high hope for my car, so with the following mods i went to Power engineering to find out how much power i was putting out:

Dbilas air intake scoop
Vx panel filter
De-restricted airbox
58mm ported throttle body
Dbilas inlet manifold
Regal 4-1 exhaust manifold <------Rare as rocking horse s#it, apparently!
Pre-cat removed
2.5" downpipe
2.5" Hoffman 200 cell sports cat
Milltek resonated catback system
Courtenay Lightened crank pulley

What do you think? 160 maybe 170 bhp, the dbilas inlet was ment to do 25bhp on its own (according to the manufacturers)

How wrong i was.......

145.5 bhp
146 ft/lb torque

Then engine was examined and compression was low in cylinders 1&4 and it needed immediate surgery!

Along with some suitable upgrades
ai1019.photobucket.com_albums_af312_2198cc_DSC00038.jpg

Re-worked head with piper cams

Lightened courtney flywheel
ai1019.photobucket.com_albums_af312_2198cc_Newflywheelandwaterpump.jpg

New water pump

Somethings should'nt be there in the 1st place

After a long recovery it was time to go to superchips for final analysis

ai1019.photobucket.com_albums_af312_2198cc_200bhp.jpg

185 Bhp @6694 Rpm

It was then remapped and the rev limit raised to 7500rpm

The result

200 Bhp @ 7102 Rpm or 55 Bhp over my inital graph :D

Final spec list:

Dbilas inlet scoop
De-resticted airbox
Vx panel filter
58mm vx throttle body
Dbilas inlet manifold
std VX injectors
CS lightened crank pulley
CS uprated clutch
CS lightened flywheel
Balance shafts removed
Piper regound cams
Ported cylinder head
Piper exhasut manifold
2.5" downpipe with 200 cell sports cat
Milltek resonated exhaust
superchips remap, rev limit raised to 7500 rpm

That's pretty impressive. Bet that sounds bonkers revving over 7000k?

Good work!

Re: Project 200 (bhp)

time for some bigger injectors dunno..

the standard max out at 200bhp (n)

ps: unless you increase the fuel pressure instead

sounds good mate the build looks alot like mine but you got the dblias inlet and im using the 2.4 but with 11.0-1cr pistons,
hows does oit drive now then?
the revs make it feel better?

Really good work there. I was half expecting Lee to be there in some green scrubs!

Re: Project 200 (bhp)

This was a fairly simple modification phase 1
other phases available
Phase 1a 220
Phase 2 250
These phases will be using second hand GM parts and still NA

No exotics parts, just good thermo-dynamics

I guess these GM parts are only for the internals but inlet / exhausts are still aftermarket / homemade ones no ? notsure.gif

Next step is to simply the path to the throttle body and fit 68mm tb. If i stop producing power then its time to look into fueling.

The idle is slightly higher when cold, but when it settles, it 'throbs' it could be described as a little lumpy,
off idle its hard to notice the differance over 'standard' it drives normally, no flat spots, its very easy to live with.
But, give it a prod on the loud pedal and the car springs into life,
the revs build quickly,
the world gets blurry
as the needle disapears into the red
a BIG smile appears on my face :D

Thats great, nice spec and nice figure i bet you are well chuffed.

Yes i am,
originally i wanted to keep it quiet til the RR day at courtney,
but it got cancelled and i thought, what the heck!
Hence the thread.

Nice one thats an impressive figure. Ill get there one day

You will if you believe you will!

sounds like a good build coming up what you planing on doing?

68mm throttle body, simplify the air induction route

Great job mate.
Really well done and applause for the result.
7100rpm, really high :)
And the end of the month i am going to adjust mine, so fingers crossed :)

BTW - How the Superchips works, do they re-map the car on the dyno or just sends you the data?

Re: Project 200 (bhp)

Thanks mate
Yes, i visited them in Buckingham, they did a initial power run to establish a base figure,
uploaded a new map, then run it again.

it's a known fact that the standard z22se injectors are maxed out at 200 bhp, they cannot deliver any more power unless the fuel pressure is increased - which is not ideal.

z20net, LSJ or saab turbo injectors should do the job (y)

Where did you source that fact from?

if i get lean codes like you experianced, then i will change them
