Hey everyone, I found this forum when searching for ways to help fortify my Gen I Ecotec (LSJ). I found Evocarlos thread about building his and have been following it.

About me:
My name is PD, 28 yrs old, heavy truck mechanic, tuner (HP Tuners), married to a car enthusiastic woman, I have a 10 yr old son, and we have a daughter on the way.

A little about my car:

I have a 2006 Cobalt SS Supercharged. I removed the Supercharger and Turbo swapped it. I used a Borg Warner S366xl and at 28psi made 438whp/333wtq. There are youtube videos if you feel like searching BlkWdoSS on there and finding them lol or I can post them later. I am currently building a motor to hopefully be able to handle 600+whp.

Hello and welcome to the site :)

I guess you will be fitting Darton sleeves to your block if you want 600+bhp :D

hello and welcome :)
makes me wish they did a girdle for the ecotec like they do for the honda engines would save some hassle :)

I'm actually avoiding dartons because of price, there are several cobalts here that are making 500+whp on stock sleeves.

Carl, there are girdled ecotecs, zz performance builds them, Ryan@zzp made 900whp on a girdled block

Thanks for the welcomes everyone, I have school tonight but I'll start on the build thread tomorrow afternoon after work

is there any where that actually sell the girdles on their own ?
in the future i think im going to get a gen3 and work up from there :)

ZZP refuses to sell just the girdle, I think they are doing some machining to the block that they dont want to release their technique

gen 3 is the way to go for mid HP numbers, from what I have seen with GTRs here in the states, the liner types that the gen 3 uses doesnt hold up to high boost numbers, they drill GTR engines out and put dartons in them.
