I've got a VecC and it's nearing 90k miles so will be looking to get the chain replaced for the comfort factor really. Does the price differ from VecB to VecC? Anyone recommended in the sunny South?

Add me to the list of Bennys satisfied customers, he did mine on Saturday, already done around 600miles on it, running fine! Even a few mpg better fuel consumption post kit fitting. I had it done for peace of mind cos mine was in effected engine numbers even though on an 02 plate, and it did have the narrow jet, chain was slipping when stripped too, LOL.

Have been to Benny's Garage today to have a new Chain and Oil-feed Pipe fitted to a C-Type Vectra (Benny's first) on 02 Registration, and as I suspected had the wrong Nozzle (1m/m) in instead of the modified 5m/m Nozzle.Found Benny as an very conscientious Worker and he will get as from now all the Work on my Car including mundane Items like a normal Service,it is well worth the Travel as You can trust him to do the Work correctly and You can see what he is doing. It is not often that I praise another fellow Mechanic, but he is good.As I am now retired and Money is not more so liberal as before one has to look long and hard to find a trustworthy Garage. Benny's is one of them. Cant praise the Guy high enough;and does all the Work for a quiet cheap Price
Keep up the good Work Benny and a big thank You.P.S.My Car with the new Chain was quieter on the M6 on the Way back as before.

I'm shocked to hear a vectra C had the small oil jet

but I'm also very happy Benny sorted it out before it snapped :D

He comes highly recommended by many, many members on here and other sites, well done Benny cheers..

Hello Vocky,so was Benny especially as Vauxhall says that the C-Type is not affected. But according to the Engine No.'s mine was. Even Benny was surprised. So we all learned not to trust what Vauxhall is trying to tell us.I kept all the Parts and will go on Monday to my VX-Main Dealer where I bought the Car and plant them on his Desk, because they where not prepared to investigate after my Complaints of uneven Engine running, because the Camshaft-timing was slightly out (stretched Chain?) The removed Chain is actually stretched and it would be just a Matter of Time before the real Dilemma would have happened. And all this on a Car which has only 23600 Miles done. But out of Warranty due to its Age according to VX Customer Care.(A very unhelpful Bunch)

benny

i had my cam chain changed yesterday by benny, i must say that all the feedback he gets is well desrved, he is a top bloke, knows his job far more than a lot of "professional" mechanics.

i have got to say that when my car went in (2001 vec b) i had not noticed too much 'rattle' but benny and his mate said it was a bit cammy and running lumpy, so after a chain change and a couple of bacon sandwiches later all was well.
car started up tech2 plugged in all checked ok.

fifteen miles later cammy noise gone car runs better than ever (no benny i havent booted it just driving careful and told mrs same!) and now my mind at ease cheers benny showo..

Update from my Visit to the Main dealer:After showing the Manager the old Type Oil-Nozzle he wanted to know who had done the Work, which I declined to answer. After they had done some shoddy Work on my Car I told him that his Garage could not be entrusted with more difficult Work.2 Weeks ago they fitted 2 new Front-Wheel Bearings (Hub's) to my Car which a "Mechanic" hammered home on to a splined Shaft N/S/F with a 3 Pound Hammer because it was a tight fit for ca 30 Minutes,in doing so he risked Damage to the CV-Joint and or Gearbox instead of using the old Nut to draw the Hub on.To top it all they forgot to put the Splash-Shield back which must still be in some Corner of the Garage.I told the Manager that they lost my Custom and that of my Family's. 2No Vectras and 3 Astra's.By losing Customers like this hopefully hurts their Wallet and maybe they learn from this.In Addition I will Name this Garage [a very unsual Step for me].This Place is in Coventry and is called : Vauxhall TILE HILL GARAGE Vauxhall Main Dealer

Would like to add my recommendation for people to use Benny. I made a 400 mile round trip to have the cam chain done by Benny. The man is superb at his job, friendly, and a pleasure to spend a few hours with.

My car like many others is a 2001 with the small oil feed fitted. All now remedied thanks to Benny.

Use Benny, you wont be dissapointed.

Need of cam chain replacement for Vectra B 2001

Hi everyone, I bought Vectra B CD Z22SE yesterday and looked through service book whether was chain already replaced. It wasn't so I am just thinking if I should consider chain replacement. Car has 72k on clock and can't hear any noise from engine.

How much should I expect to pay to have chain replacement done? I'm near Portsmouth.

Thanks
George

Would be a fair old trek to Benny from Portsmouth though.

think the dealers charge around £400 to have one changed, not 100% though.
