What do you think of the Bilstein B4's on the front??? I find mine are a little too soft and can bottom out sometimes.....
I found B4's on my Vectra were just right as an OE replacement. How low is yours on the front?

Im not sure. Ive got the Eibach Pro kit with the B4's on my astra coupe but have to bear in mind the extra weight because i have the auto box. I should start a new thread really instead of hijacking this one, Sorry Maverick.

Back to Mavericks' post thou - Very nice car!!! You just need the xenon lights now to finish it off. :D

I would love to do the Zenons, but I have not really looked into it, is it an easy convertion? I don't mean the aftermarket zenon kits, but the proper factory shark eye zenons.

I picked up the bumper yesterday from my Vauxhall dealer and as usual they had done a fantastic job for me. So I bought it home and Mrs Mav helped me put it back on the car.

It was nice to see the car with all it's bits back in place after 6 weeks!

So here's the bumper re-fitted.

I then decided to have a go at machine polishing. The car is desparate to have it's swirl marks and very light marks taken out.

The last time I tried this I feared that lives would be lost! I got polish on the drive, me, next door but none on the car!

So a crash course in mopping took place when I picked up my bumper yesterday. So today I had a go. I spent alot of time masking everything off so that I didnt have lots of cleaning to do later.

I have to say that after a few minutes on the bonnet and remembering the advice I was given, I was amazed by the results! I have done the bonnet and the whole of the passenger side and the paint is looking so much better. I think I have got rid of most of the swirls and marks. I'll finish the other side then decide wether to do it a little harder.

Here's the bonnet before I started.

This is the result after a cut with cutting pad and compound and finishing polish with a waffle.

Then here is the passenger side finished.

I have yet to polish and wax, so this is just the result of the machine polish.

I will be doing the other side and the boot lid in due course.

More to follow later.

A few more bits done this week.

Firstly last Saturday morning, I machine polished the boot lid. So everything was masked off so I didnt get anything in the panel gaps.

I thien stripped off the brakes and suspension.

The wheel arch got the clean up and paint treatment, I removed all the wheel arch liner first and the loom clips etc before I started.

I then stripped the strut and replaced the damper with the Bilstien B4 and the spring with the Eibach.

The springs look alot different, I hope it's doesnt drop it this low when I do the other side!

Then off to Marshall Vauxhall to collect the new Turbo 308mm front discs and pads that I had ordered.

With everything re-fitted etc.

Here is the finished result.

I decided against trying to paint the gearbox as it would look terrible with just the end being painted and the rest not.

The same goes for the H frame, and the original paint is still in good order, I will spend some time cleaning all the wax and grime off.

If the gearbox comes out next summer for the lightened flywheel etc, then I may get the whole gearbox cleaned up and painted.

Hope you like!

I did the following :-

Machine Polished using 3M Fastcut plus with a 3M compund pad
Machine Polished using 3M Ultrafine SE with a waffle pad
Hand polished with 3m Ultrafine SE
Hand Polished with Autoglym Super Resin Polish
Then glazed with RedMoose Hand Glaze
Waxed with Do Do Juice Orange Crush
Then finished off with 3 coats of Do Do Juice Super Natural Wax.

It's a long process and still have the drivers side to do, but It doesnt matter if I take weeks to do it as the car wont be used now.
