well they should be off before xmas as the new brakes and suspension should be with me by the week end. also going to do the chain an clean out the sump, pick up tube and oil pump. just for peace of mind. will make it easier to sell the engine when the new lump goes in.

I did the chain on the corsa as soon as I could, I used a bga kit n it still rattles on start up, I wish i had used better quality parts but I wasnt expecting to keep it this long.

She should have passed by now(shes scared of round abouts).

Giz the exhaust. Looks a nice bit of kit.

Thats what timing chain kit I used, bga I either did it wrong or the tensioners arnt the best, cold mornings I still get a rattle until oil pressure.

did you remove and clean the sump and suction strainer? also clean the relief valve in the pump. could be a worn cam/follower these engines are prone to cam wear. early x12xe cams are far stronger.

No I dint take the sump off.

The head had new valve stem seals and reseated the valves but other than the head gasket set and timing chain kit n new oil n filter fitted thats it.

have seen many with blocked oil pick up pipes. I will be cleaning mine while its off, exhaust will be off so it will be easier to drop the sump.
also got new seat, new wheels, new steering coloumn, new trim parts, so she will be ready for the power gains in a few months once I've finished the other corsa. :)

to note bga are worse than fai and i know how you hate FAI :)

matter of opinion that carl, never had a problem with BGA kits on this engine range, unlike all the FAI ones which seem to be failing after minimal miles on the z22se range. (mine failed during fitting!) and over on corsa c the fai kits have been failing as well where as bga last longer. :D

My 2.2 has wear on the cam I can hear it ticking especially when it's cold. I need to change them but don't really want to take the chains off lol

yes, but it was to dark to get photo's. exhaust system is on, brake upgrade on, brake lines on, suspension on, service done, breathers and throttle body cleaned, timing chains are in great order and going by the rest of the engine, filters, plugs ect the service history is genuine! :)
will get photo's tomorrow when I start on interior. (y)

ohhhh i see, but cant you use either crank and still be a 2.2? a net/b207 or z22se or yh

whats the pros and cons?
for 2.0l its the net/b207 (forged crank)
for 2.2l its the z22se/z22yh (cast crank)

pros
2.0l shorter stroke so you can run faster piston speed (more rpm)
2.2l i has a longer stroke and gives you more CC more cc more power
forged crank stronger and takes more s**t

cons
cast crank not as strong
