Yep, don't know how it will be with the supertech stuff, but do no forget to check the inner spring to seal clearance too

inner spring internal diameter is 14.2mm, seal outer diameter is 13.2mm

when you fit the spring over the seal there seems quite a bit of clearance, but in reality it's just 0.5mm all round, weird !

Vocky, yep, and the springs always bounce a bit (or do not compress 100% straight at least), so might be an issue.
Not sure how much a min clearance should be, I'll try to ask...

well the valve guide is 10mm (6mm valve stem, 2mm wall thickness), so add the minumum of 1.5mm for the rubber seal and 1mm for the metal part of the seal and you have get a bare minimum of 12.5mm outer diameter, so the maximum possible clearance could be 0.75mm :?:

if you want you can buy a set of vauxhall valve stem seals [16 x 90537241 £2.13 each + vat = £40.05] and I will swap them with my set of new modified vauxhall seals or I can modify a set you supply, whatever is easiest.

Thanks Vocky, I have ended up with a large amount of work this month ( time away from home) and everything has gone wrong. The springs arn't here ( somewhere between the states and here) the cams are somewhere, where i don't know!!! Just hope they don't shag my head (the hood) wants it done asap to get it out of jons shop.

So the order of this is springs/seals, seat valves. put in head, put on head, put in car run car and enjoy car.

The cams have been shipped by karo and should be in longbeach today (although apparently karo said the UPS depot had been evacuated due to a wildfire in the area!). If they're there today I'll try and get them dispatched today.

no need to remove the gearbox, just loosen the mounting bolts :thumbup:

I checked the balancer delete set up idler bearings, no wear what-so-ever, which is what I expected 🙂

tonight I port matched the throttle bodies inlet manifold to the saab head 🙂

I bolted it to the head and then used my die-grinder + rotary rasp to ensure a perfect port match between the two, but forgot to take some pics :lol:

the engine block is at the machine shop getting rebored for the Wiseco pistons, the crank / pistons / rods / flywheel / clutch / crank pulley are also getting balanced at the same time.

I picked up the rebored block and balanced crank the other day so todays task was to rebuild and refit the bottom end :thumbup:

the wiseco pistons and eagle conrods

the crank fitted and new bearing cap bolts

the pistons fitted, ready to connect to the crank

conrods connected and water pump chain refitted

sump, flywheel and clutch fitted

going in 😃

and done :clap:

thought I had better make a dipstick bracket rather than use another cable tie :lol:

I've had a few little jobs to sort out whilst it's apart 😃

the vx220 and webcon wiring looms have been altered slightly to make them both look neat and tidy and also more 'factory fit' than two modified looms 8)

I have also altered the length of the trumpets, they are now 10mm shorter, this allows the air filter to be removed a little easier 🙂 plus it saves me having to cut the bulkhead :lol:

I also sorted the upper coolant pipe, which had been modified on the original itb installation for a temperature sender, this is no longer required as it will now be in the saab head 8)
