If the AIM piggy back works with z22se then that will be the easier option, but if I have to go to a stand alone ECU then there will be little difference between the 2 on the mapping side. Then it'll be down to the cost of upgrading/rebuilding a nearly 10 year old engine thats done 70k miles or a fresh crate engine with alot of the upgrade bits required already fitted as std.

Yep but after some time talking to Jon we feel that's what i should go for I need to replace them with the bhp I want, also it should help keep it cooler.

Vock --- that Block I have any idea how many miles it has done I am coming around to the idea of a rebuild of that engine

it was only 51k or 53k, certainly low 50's notsure.gif

that would be your best route, get the spare bottom end fully rebuilt and then flog your original once they're swapped over.

if you get the bores checked they might be fine, then standard pistons could be fitted - saves the cost of a rebore 🙂

a good bottom end goes for about £250 ish dunno..

Well yes and no...

If you lower the CR, you'll have to make more boost from the TVS to get the same bhp than with a higher CR.

More boost means you'll have to fit a smaller pulley, making the TVS spin faster... spinning faster mean you MAY land in much lower blower efficiency zone, totally killing your "cooler" CR advantage.
When you look at what the LSJ (2.0 sc) guys do in the US, they usually go for 10 or even 10.5:1 CR, there may be a reason :wink:

although after reading some of their discussions, i get the feeling that reliability isn't their main aim. I don't know any technical details about these ratios, just something to bear in mind

I must admit because this is my main car I want no problems with it and would sacrifce a few BHP for longevity

Well Lower boost in higher CR or higher boost in lower CR changes nothing for reliability

As I said, higher boost could be worse even in a lower CR due to the blower efficiency curve.
It is up to anybody, lower boost "turbo" parts are easier to find than blower ones

in the SC Honda elises they use a swirl pot and second fuel pump.

I have decided to get a new long range tank made up but without an internal pump so will go with an inline one, should take a xouple of weeks when I can get the measurements of the long range tank from someone.

My update,

I am afraid Jim of 2tublar couldn't do my exhaust system in time, the car was booked into Courtenays for yesterday. I have everything ready but am now about to run out of leave!!

So sat on the floor in my room along with some Eagle rods and other stuff is a very nice looking Harrop TVS 😃 but nowhere for it to go..... AAAHHHHHHHHH

Any idea what to do now? :cry:

Maybe I will end up rebuilding that block Vocky, only thing is it's years since I have anything like that. Here is an Idea what about a "lets build nick a 320bhp engine over a weekend" meet cheers.. cheers.. anyone up for it?
