So, no issue's with the ECU then? Was afraid that it might have an issue if it can actually know which gear you are in. Changing from 5 to 6 speed might be an issue then 😉

update:

the clutch decided to stop working :cry:

to cut a very long story short....

when bolted to the flywheel the new heavy duty clutch cover was 4mm further away from the slave cylinder than the standard clutch cover, this caused the slave cylinder to work at it's maximum point which caused the seal to 'blow by', thus the fluid emptied onto the floor :evil:

I have heard that this can happen after fitting a heavy duty clutch, so could be down to poor design/ lack of testing/ why not just blame the slave cylinder/ bullsh*t dunno..

so I have refitted the standard clutch cover and all seems well again :roll:

I made a one off slave cylinder :lol:

I used the M32 mounting unit and the rest from the F23 slave cylinder, that way I know the clutch is how GM designed it.

the seal was ok, it was just coming out of the end of the mounting block :roll:

Glad you have sorted it Vocky, not surprised you did it.. projects like these take a degree of trial and error, with out your skill,knowledge and efforts we all would,nt get to learn from it, , well done chap. :lol:

took it for a test drive today, all the gears are ok, clutch needs bedding in :roll:

might have to modify the gear lever assembly again, the reverse gate could be a little better dunno..

the response to that question seems to be that lotus tried the diff and decided they were not required :?

those who have fitted them seem to like them :?

so maybe dunno..

I need to fit a lower final drive first though 🙂

having test drove my vx220 I realised that the reverse gear gate was not ideal, so today I've modified the gear lever assembly to create a 'press down' reverse gate.

it works perfect and I'm very happy with the finished item 😃

new = 34mph
2.2 = 36mph
m32 = 37mph
vxt = 39 mph

2nd gear
new = 60mph
2.2 = 64 mph
m32 = 65mph
vxt = 69 mph

3rd gear
new = 87mph
2.2 = 95 mph
m32 = 95 mph
vxt = 104 mph

4th gear
new = 121mph
2.2 = 133 mph
m32 = 131 mph
vxt = 145 mph

5th gear
new=147mph
2.2 = 163 mph
m32 = 159 mph
vxt = 178 mph

6th gear
new = 173mph :lol:

update:

I have finished fitting the 3.94 diff 🙂

I found it easier to simply swap all the internal gears between the two M32 boxes rather than change the two shaft gears.
