How to fit an oil pressure gauge

I found that you should use the sender which is matched to the gauge, I gave up killing the electrical gauges and converted to a mechanical.

my oil pump is brand new and the pressure relief valve is factory set to 125 psi, which is about 5-6000 rpm

Would the 220net relief valve be a more suitable part for a high revving NA engine and would it fit the Z22se timing case cover?

Wasn't it this parts failure that caused Alanoo's engine to do an oil wee all over his drive?

( Myabe another thing to add to the mental wish list LOL )

the problem with the z22se oil pump is the oil pressure relief valve can stick, mine had also stuck in the closed position - too much oil pressure.

I would go for the z20net / saab oil pump as I'm not sure whether the z22yh is the later spec, if it is the later spec then it would be the same price anyway

you can tell the difference between the z22se and the later spec pump, I will try and find some pics later

I actually still have oil pressure issues with a new pump and hardened gears + valve definitely not sticking

We are trying different springs loads for this valve to reach a more clever oil pressure at load (around 6 bar max at WOT)

and mount it instead of the oil pressure "switch", I think alanoo did it this way but made the adapter himself

I have some of those I got them for the oil temp sensor as I was going to put it in the sump plug, but the oil temp sensor I have was too big. let me know if you want any

I've just bought a SPA design dual gauge ( http://www.spa-uk.co.uk/design/productd ... ?objid=130 ).

I don't really want to drive around with the oil light on, so I was going to get the bits from Pirtek to "T" in the new sensor with the standard pressure switch, but the SPA 16BAR sensor is so small (22mm dia.) it would be a shame not to just screw it straight into the outlet for that standard look. 8)

One of the features of the SPA gauge that makes me hope this could be viable are the aux 12v 100mA outputs. I was trying to work out from this diagram: http://www.speedsterclub.nl/bibliotheek ... tument.pdf if I could just cut the Brown / Blue wire at X3 and solder the AUX out from the SPA there instead?

(Bet you probably can't, but I only managed 2 weeks of my AS level electronics course at college before discovering I was basically studying mathematics; at the time I was much better at studying beer, girls and my bed - occasionally all at the same time 😃 )

Nick - any more of those M12 course thread to 1/8th BSP adaptors? I'll PM you.

I have thought about replacing the oem pressure switch with a 1/2 BSPP male to 1/8 NPT female adapter to allow me to install an oil temp sensor instead I already have the pressure sensor installed as described before. wonder if it will work, should save the problem of either drilling into to sump or trying to get a sump plug made ( walls are too thin really to allow 1/8 npt thread) anyone seen one? or will I have to get a 1/2 BSPP blanking plug and drill it ?

it's certainly worth a try, the oil pressure switch is too slow to respond anyway :thumbdown:
