Hello alanoo, you have written at October 16th, 2009 :
“”We are trying different springs loads for this valve to reach a more clever oil pressure at load (around 6 bar max at WOT) “””
Sorry of my bad english. Im from cologne in germany
iam verry interresting at a spring like 6 bar.
Last week i changed the oil. And my oilfilter had a hole ( diameter ca. 12 mm) and the filter ist shorter as normal ( ca. 12mm shorter). First i testet the valve from the oilpump. If i take away the skruw and the spring, the valves came alown down. And the hole for the valve ist total ok.
Then i instalated a oil pressure tester ( mechanial thing , no elektrik) with a long pipe inside the car. Here in colgone in we have nearly 0 celsius, sometimes some celsius under sero.
Starting engine oil pressure 4-5,5 bar. 3000 u/min 6-6,5 bar 4500 u/min 8 bar or more
If the oil is hotter up to 60-70 celsius ist better, but not good. If oil up to 100 celsius and WOT its 5-6 bar---to my feeling to high
I d`ont understand why they made such a higt oil pressure.
My thinking:
Ive cut the spring 10-12 mm, it comes only 0,3 bar down when engine is cold.
So, cutting ist not the solution, because then i havent enought spring lengt.---it was only for test when car is standing—not drive at street.
If we have another spring load like 6 bar, im afraid that the oil ( when engine is coold) comes not quick enought to the thinks were the oil is needed or it comes not enough oil------but i dont now
when the oil is coold and the original valvespring opend at 8,6 bar its total open. if the oil is thick and pasty the 2 squared holes at the full open valves cant get the oil back because the squared holes are to little for the much oil----- but i don`t now
thanks for answers
