I still don't quite "understand" the schrick cams. As far as I know they don't have that much duration (I've seen 252 degrees?) but they have big lift, so big that things have to be modified on the head (if I understand correctly).
Your piper cams (VX22BP270 I would guess?) have longer duration, although still conservative (260 degrees) and have max lift you can get away with without modifications.

So what is the benefit of the schrick cams? Are they that much better? I would guess the more agressive pipers would fit a sportier engine better, which is what I would want for my vx. You even see that in the difference piper make in the vx22bp270 and the ecobp270h. The eco's are more geared towards torque as far as I can see, which would be better for heavier cars..

my reason for not wanting schrick cams is I have +1mm valves, too much lift and bye bye :shock:

I would not expect any more power from schrick cams over a 'piper and +1mm valves' set up dunno..

also my piper cams were 266 degree 🙂

vx22bp270 are the only cams piper supply for the z22se, the eco** are for the x22xe / x20xe / x18xe

So do you have a special version? When I look in the catalogue they are listed as 260 degrees..

And is it true they are only repro's? Not available as made from blank?

piper changed the spec of the cams, but don't think they changed the web page notsure.gif

only reprofile your supplied cams, but at £235 inc vat for the PAIR I'm not complaining 😃

Agree pipers are a very good deal, but with no uprated valvetrain you won't be reliable passing 6800 rpm...

As my goal is 7600 rpm, reliable, I went to the Schrick kit (also with 40% discount, it was interesting too)

torque = 195 Ft Lb's 🙂

wheel hp = 179 whp

I thought the TMS rolling road read about 10 bhp low :lol:

There are no mods left to do, that's the most a standard ecu and single tb will ever give dunno..

Excellent work the z22 guru.
Power right up to 6300rpm and fairly even.
Reckon 2 or 4 throttles on a one off manifold will do the trick or is it an ECU thing.
