So there I was enjoying the beautiful sunny weather blatting about the countryside when this decided to happen (n)

I have so far made an alloy post to bolt to the sump.

I drilled an 8mm hole all the way through, then milled it with a 12mm bit to allow the allen key bolt head to sit inside and bolt the post to the sump. I also added a 45 degree chamfer so that the alloy post matches the sump mount diameter.

I have ordered a slightly longer drive belt and a new alternator adjuster mechanism, so once they arrive I will continue with the little modification 🙂

so i take it you used a different alternator for the t/b's ?

It's just a smaller Denso alternator, which saved about 5Kg in weight and being mounted lower down on the engine helps lower the centre of gravity by a tiny amount. Every little helps on a vx220 🙂

The itb's work fine with a standard alternator (y)

I removed the standard belt tensioner, replaced the steel crank pulley for an under-drive alloy version and fitted the small Denso alternator = 5Kg weight saving

So to wrap this small mod up 🙂

Finished making the alloy post, just milled a flat for the tensioner arm on one side and a small flat for the fixing bolt on the other side.

added a modified Volvo belt tensioner

and fitted a sleeve into the Denso alternator to reduce the size of the fixing bolt from a M10 to a M8, I also added 4mm to the sleeve to act as a spacer so the Volvo belt tensioner fitted perfectly

Just used normal M8 nuts for the trial build, they will be swapped for nyloc nuts when it gets fitted to my vx220.

I have replaced the Sachs suspension with Quantum suspension, which is more track focused 🙂

I had just got back from a two hour drive and thought I would take a quick pic on my phone 😃

And that was the second day in a row I had a two hour drive in my vx :eek:
