Well a job came up i got to get done on the car which i didnt want to do till a new engine was put in. I'm in need of a clutch big time as its slipping badly!!🙁 @[deleted] @[deleted] @[deleted] So what clutch do people recommend? Ive seen a fast road clutch that cs do which says it handles power upto 270bhp for £200 is that my cheapest option for a reliable clutch that can handle the power? And im hoping i can get a clutch fitted for £300 is that realistic price or looking at a lot more? Pvs maybe in jeopardy atm depending on much tjis going to cost.

I cant see a clutch costing much more than £100/150 fitting so id say tops £350 fitted if you get the £200 clutch.

the standard vauxhall clutch can handle 250 bhp, but pattern clutches will not.

A Helix clutch will handle the power easily.

A cheaper option is to get a z20let F23 clutch or Saab

Will those clutchs for z20let fit f23 be a straight bolt on option? No modding needed to flywheel etc? Could a be a pain and ask if u could link me a couple clutch options so i know what im looking at plz.

what ever you do dont buy a lucas csc for £60 there crap gm/luk only....

I'm using a sachs z20let organic clutch now as recommended by Courtenay, has been used on cars over 400bhp without and problems but way out of your budget.
think it was around £350. had helix before but they only go to 250ish bhp.
my standard gm one slipped at 170bhp n/a in the Vectra. only managed 10k miles before u/s.

To be honest I would as a matter of course. If it's all apart it's false economy to leave it. When I had a reconditioned gearbox done in my Zafira I had them change it for one I supplied as it had gone again (long story). It's better, in my opinion, to do it than have to take it all out again a few months later to do it. Most garages I would think wouldn't charge you much (if at all) for something that takes next no time to fit.

Defiantly change the CSC at the same time as your in there you might as well would be a real waste to pay all the labour then have it fail / leak after a rebuild.

Out of interest and I never found out what the Saab clutch kit is for our F23 box?

I got quoted around £150 - £230 on labour as it is a subframe drop job.

Also you can get a genuine GM CSC from neo brothers for about £85 last time I looked just couldn't match a GM to Saab part for the clutch.

If i can get the job done for sub £250 i be over the moon. If someone can link the part number for a GM csc that be gr8🙂

Tbh bud budget not an issue tbh and with me wanting more power and starting to get parts for a forged engine it would make sense to look into that clutch. Could u tell me where u got it then i way up my options.

You may find that the kit that @[deleted] used may come with a CSC. I used an LUK one in my Zafira and it was fine (and has been for over a year). I assume that with and uprated clutch assembly you would possibly have an uprated CSC (assuming clutch pressure is a little heavier?).

I would imagine bolt pattern would be different.

But got some good news gave the garage a ring who do my free services and only charge £150 labour and should get the car back the same day as long sub frame comes off with no hassle. So got to make my mind up on clutchs now lol
