plus my van is next I want to do the balance shaft delete and new rings n gaskets and paint it all fresh the same

is it one of them gay ones with no crank pulley key and you have to use the locking pin down the flywheel end then a 5mm strip of steel in the cams gearbox end ?

Yeah the crank sits on the key in the picture it can still turn backwards then there two caps over the cams gearbox end where you fit the cam locking tool.
also the tensioner has two tags that you have to match up then turn the engine over twice and check there still right.

It only took half hour to do but in the car it's a whole different ball game lol

yeah done one before they're cack lol had to go and buy the locking pins then make a cam locking tool
the r19 16v was easy none of this floating crank pulley lol and the cams just sat at the top nice and easy

Yeah there good engines I never really worked on them much it was always the newer ones 80% of Renaults have the k4m 1.6 in them. I want to figure out how to fit the twingo sport inlet manifold and throttle body but still keep the cable as it's the only real difference to my engine

i was going to say the 19 16v engine was bomb proof but i spun a bearing at 130 when all the oil got pumped to the head lol 🙂

could you not just make an adapter plate ?

Yeah I would swap my Megane for a 19 16v tomorrow lol

I can fit the lower and higher inlet manifold off a twingo sport or maybe an early clio sport but both have neither had a throttle cable and both have variable valve timing so at the very least I'd have to use my throttle body and make a strange cable to fit somehow lol

The very first clio sports are cable but I'm not sure the 2l has the same bolt pattern or if the holes even match up.. probably not tbh

got the engine in easy enough just got to put the gearbox in the side and wire it up really ill go and do a bit Sunday. After trax the van will be getting some attention me thinks

Thursday night on the way home from work I had to drive most of the way home in 4th gear as my gear cables snapped well the up and down on had..
my local vauxhall dealer are in trouble so don't serve to the public anymore so after a bit of ringing around my dad got a genuine gm set through work as I'm trying to keep everything genuine..
got them Friday and changed them in less than 2 hours today 🙂

also I think I'm going to order a new rocker cover and gasket and I noticed under the battery tray the bracket is going rusty so that needs sorting soon.

Today I changed a set of rear pads on a astra j with an electric handbrake and they were the easiest set I've ever done... literally took ten mins a side no more than half hour to do the whole job start to finish
I only remembered to take a pic once they were done but yeah ridiculously easy job.

i did a full set discs and pads front and back on a peugeot 3007(i think ot was that, big 1 anyway)
with auto electric handbrake and they were all dead easy it had only done like 30000 miles but that was like an hour an half for the lot. nice 1

Apparently on some new cars they have to be plugged into the computer and on the rear brakes the piston gets wound back via tech 2 or whichever they use for other cars

iv heard about having to plug them.in to do the pads. but im sure someone will find a way round it

thats for the elec handbrake for adjustment of the tension i think 🙂

why do they have to make everything so complicated, u dont need to be mechanicly minded to work on cars any more u need to be a computer technition.

So you have to pay dealer prices rather than doing things yourself.

i went in to vx today with the astra got it plugged in to see what's going on with the abs ecu then drove out my wallet never even left my pocket lol

They did that with me on the VXR. Charged me an hours labor to tell me they "couldn't hear the sound", and the CDTI Vectra had a slight missfire on injector 3 which was a common fault with the connector. Plugged in, can't see any fault. Bought the fixed connector, and soldered it on myself.

i went to vx once they charged me £90 to tell me i needed an egr valve(which i allready knew)
n the egr valve that was on was brand new then said its £90 for said egr valve n i said i can get them for like £45 on ebay so they charged me £55 for it n then it went faulty again within 6month so sold the car cos it did my head in hahah
