i need to get my car fixed now as i have lost my job and my boss has took the car back so i was just wondering if i did have a cracked cylinder head do you think i could get it fixed for £400 i could go higher but i don't really want to spend more than that

Sorry to hear about your job.

If you do have a cracked head and need one, I have a whole engine I can let go for £125 + £40 for delivering it. The bottom end is buggered though and no coilpack. Its fine if you need the head?

Has alternator, TB, Rocker Cover etc.

i not worried about my job as i will have my job back in a week or two because he always asks me to come back but i will let you no because i am going to phone a couple of garages tomorrow to see how much it will hurt my wallet

because the head gasket is rated at 500bhp and the couple which have genuinely failed were caused by running the engine with no coolant. A few have been changed by garages and not fixed the real problem.

However there have been probably 15 or 20 cracked heads caused by over tightening the spark plug in cylinder number 4.

omg really how come its so much for this car because it only cost me £200 for my mg zs to have its head gasket changed

because you be mad not to replace the chains with the head off

I still think you have bent valves and not a HG failure

have you take the coil pack off and checked for water in the spark plug holes

take 2 or 3 mins to lift up the coil pack and drop a bit of tissue down there

i have had a quote of £650 plus vat and £35 to pick up the car and thats to fix bent valves and change the chains

i would have it of you but i ain't got a clue how to remove and fit the head plus i ain't got a clue how to do the chains.

i got my car back today and they supplied & fitted 10 valve guides, decoked & cleaned the cylinder head, fitted 10 new valves, reseat all valves, skimmed the head face, assembled with new oil seals, refitted the cylinder head with new gaskets & head bolt, fitted new chains, new oil and filter and fitted new alternator belt plus towed it from my house for £820. I was happy with the work they had done and happy to see it working again but my happiness only lasted ten minutes as my steering wheel went hard and my battery warning light came on and i don't no what the problem is
