I've got the head off and can't see any cracks anywhere. Do you have any images of cracked heads I could compare with what I see?
Though there was water in pots 3 and 4, the cause of the engine failure seems to have been the tip of the static cam chain guide breaking and the bit falling into the timing case. It appears to have taken the balance chain off the water pump and smashed another guide.. So I'm going to have to take the sump off to see where the other bits of plastic went. Anyone got a spare engine?
