i think that's why the one mirror cover had many bits of dust stuck to it when i did paint them the base started to bloom so had to heat it up with the heat gun i then setup an little blow heater that's what i think put the dust on the one cover
you can see it in this pic in the reflection of the lacquer

going to try with the spoiler now had the heater and extractor on for 2 hours so should be dust free and warm enuff not to bloom
i bought the anti blood just in case im not sure on the price difference i think there both £6 for 5l

we will see how i get on later 🙂

Good luck anyway nice finish on the lacquer ive also used that lacquer myself it is quite good. you can never get a paint job completely dust free anyway you just try your best to minimize the amount like wet your floor not too much brush around your paint area so floor wet but not soaking it stops dust kicking up when air is in use

ive had ago but looks like i might run out of paint for the base coat 🙁

this pic is crap but im waiting for the smog to clear to make sure the top is covered

you can just see the 2 drips in the middle at the bottom will have to wait till tomorow now to flat them off and give it another coat

Brave man matt did you give it a coat of plastic primer before you put colour on it. This is what causes paint to flake off all new plastic parts. It can be painted over straight away after it has dried out you dont need to sand the plastic primer

Yeah, the yellow was the plastic primer

Good stuff some people don't use it or they get stuff done at garages and months later the paint is flaking off. A lot of the time the garage will give some bullshit excuse but the real reason is they don't use plastic primer

i never had any fun with that yellow high build primer always get solvent attack and ended up having to use bar coat
the best plastic primer i found was the clear stuff with metallic particles in it

the paints i use now are much easier to apply and don't react

Mine was a rattle can kit from paints4u, so was never going to be anything other than an average job TBH. It took quite a few layers of clear and a lot of buffing to get a half decent finish on it.

ive got the run's :yuck:

well wheres me swear box (bast&&d!)
had to cut it back with some 400 grit wet and dry to remove the bumps

then went on to 1500 and here's a water test very nice metallic particles

i also turned the paint down on the spray gun to try stop the run's
heres how it looks with one coat of clear

I've never used yellow plastic primer myself its always clear or the stuff you mention with metallic particles in it but whatever is available at your local paint suppliers i suppose does the job all the same

A little tip here carlos your paint finish is a little orange peel looking if i take a guess i would say your lacquer is a little too thick so thin it down a little more
Do you have a polishing buff and farecla compound ?

the lacquer was like nats piss thats what the problems been its that thin even just a thin coat makes it run
so in that last pic i turned the paint down and used more air i dont mind the orange peel its going to be flatted with 2500 then polished with t-cut
just waiting for it to dry now

i still think my problems are down to the temp in the batcave its still cold even with the heater on 1c outside so at a guess its like 7-9c inside

You just need to get your paint flow adjuster right. When i was an apprentice i was told to keep gun a hands length distance from panel this helps and just a little closer as you feel necessary i got a couple of runs myself tonight so not a major problem you could have thinned a little too much maybe heres one to consider next time it helps dry paint faster in between coats and general drying time is cut down

no thinner added its 2k 2:1 and its super fast hardener 20 min between coats and 2 hour dry time
just flatted it off and give it a quick go with t-cut but im not happy lol its getting a 4th coat of lacquer tomorow
