going in for mot next friday with the aim of having it taxed and insured for 1st feb. me and mrs are already arguing who guna be driving it lol.

cheers fella. done a few last bits to her last night, changed the n.s drive shaft and removed the hids and fitted the standard bulbs. i got a bit heavy handed tho and when i replaced the airbox ive cracked the top :facepalm:. so i am thinking of cutting the top and fitting a cone inside the airbox. can you get adapters for these? i will hopefully get some pics loaded up this weekend.

ok so today was mot day. went to the lockup at 6am to pick it up. battery was flat. hmm..... jump started it and all seems fine on idle, headlamps and dash board nice and bright. go to drive it to mot station and 2 miles down the road the lights go dim and no power steering 🙁. dip the clutch to change gear n she cuts out and wouldnt restart. called my boss to come jump me off as was due to meet him at station and it wouldnt go. had to call my friend who does recovery and got it towed down to the test station. got them to look at it for me and the alternator and battery are toast. i have a new-ish battery on the derv (3 month old) so not to worried about that but the alternator is a worry. been told it could be a 120amp unit and they are a shade over £200 new! going to try and get my old unit repaired 1st so hope it will repair. on the plus side the car flew through mot with no advisories. 🙂

i think i have an alternator in me spares draw i would need to test it

but i once had an issue with my car like this where it had been stood for 8 months tried bumping it jumping it from 3-4 batteries but no start
called the aa out and he was confused after a phone call he came back to the car with a big screw driver and then disconnected the battery and then shorted the + to the -
once that was done it started no bother and ran fine all the way up to the mot center
he said it was static from all the battery's i had connected messing up the immobilizer

ill have to remember that tip cheers 🙂. got a call from garage today,my alternator is repairable so told them to crack on with it. however the pully wheel is also worn and has next to no ridges left. is this a common problem? still its cheaper then new and using genuine parts so still happy. should have her back wed/thurs 🙂

well she been back on the road since wed and is been rather good in the snow tbh. is any1 on hear good with photoshop? tempted to get the wheels re done as the cold has flaked some of the paint away on 1 wheel 🙁. would like black or anthracite if any1 can help please??

Dark wheels on a blue car look good anyway. I went for a black base with a layer of silver on top, and I'm really pleased with how they look

a few updated pics for you guys. gave it a good wash this afternoon as it hasn't been washd since been back on the road. the wheels are covered in road grime/tar and noticed that the n/sf wheel has a new flat spot on the rim. WOMAN!!!!. so this year valintines day has been cancelled and im spending the money on another rim refurb lol. we have noticed she is drinking fuel (£60 - 230 miles), is any1 else 2.2 like this at the moment with weather been cold? im still used to running the derv so bit of a shock still lol. on a good note the ive got my stereo/sub set up again and sounding how i want. i have a vibe 10in with built in amp. not a fan of massive bass but like a bit more then standard setup can give. also i have no idea how ive managed to get two of the same pic up. ah well...

hello strangers! lol. not updated in a while as nothing to realy update. the past 6 months has been rather quiet for the coupe until recently. 1st thing both seat cables snaped which was a pain. i ended up removing the complete seat covers to replace the cables. then my mrs had a small run in with a pothole and destroying a wheel 🙁. so ive splashed out on a set of pentas with new 215/40/18 tyres instead of the 35 profiles that she had before. i must say it makes a difference in ride quality. ive painted them myself for now untill next year when funds allow. now for the good bit 😃. i have bought a vectra v6! mot failure for the grand sum of 350 quid. this car has a genuine 61k on the clock with full dealer service history. 2 mature owners and she is on a auto box. this engine will be going into the coupe later on this year when i have sorced all the parts that i need.

yes i will keep it updated as things progress. wont be happening for a few months as got parts to buy. been doing some research into the conversion and my plan is to get a power steering deletion setup off a vec c v6. im going to use a zaf gsi gearbox and use a pot type flywheel with a c20let clutch. the drivers side engine mount will have to be made up as there is no off the shelf mount that i know of.

What about the ECU etc?

the wiring isnt to bad. its basicly colour to colour with the wiring but to do it properly you need to fit in a couple of relays or something to keep the dash lights off. im no good when it comes to sparky stuff so my mate will do that part for me. you also have to keep the astra ecu to run the temp gauge and the cooling system as it runs on a different setup. alot of folk dont look into this and do it half arsed. the engine will run ok but dash is lit up and i dont want that

well boys and girls. the vectra v6 is home. she has done 140 miles to 20 quid of fuel and runs like a dream. i will get some pics tomorrow as the only decent camera is my gf phone and she at work atm. now ive got a question for the vec b boys. this vec has what looks like a sat nav thats built into the dash down near the bottom and a cd/pc type thing in the glovebox and it looks like a factory option or very well done. did the vec b come with this as a option? like i said i will get pics tomorrow

yep factory fitted ,iirc they are not very good lol,stick with a tom tom

well now the lil 1 is in bed ive had a chance to go through all the paperwork that came with it. your right it is a factory option and a expensive 1 at that. £1276 to be exact. and the object thats in the glove box is a cd resite kit that was £122 quid. the car has mainly been looked after by lookers Ellesmere port vaux dealership,plenty of invoices for servicing,mots and some big jobs like head gaskets replacement on both banks at 35k in o6. it also looks like the car was possibly stood for a year or 2 between 08 and 10. no mot even on the directguv site. will definatly be changing belts when the engine comes out.
