Well i must say,wot a nightmare job...doin the chain aint so bad,its taking everything else off 1st...
started at 1.30 2day,just got bits left to put bk on,cudnt stay in work any longer was knackered...

the timing chain and balance shaft chain in all its glory..

one thing i did notice you said it's all coloured up and i see they have got a blue paint mark on the chain,could this mean,or be anything to do with the blue paint mark on the outside of the caseing people have been seeing i wonder ?

on the new and improved tensioner there is a blue paint mark along with the cutouts...goin by wot i read up on,the links used to be copper and silver,,,but changed to blue and purple on the later chains....the one i removed today were blue and purple,so its either bin done or wasnt in the affected range..

as long as the tensioner on ures has got the cutouts and or blue paint it shud be dun anyhow...left the car in work 2nite...realy wierd it not bein outside...

its 5.4 hrs book time...i took 7...thats with takin fotos and fag breaks etc...

working on my garges labour rate that woud be £243 labour..and 186 for parts...plus the dreaded...vat...£504.75...+the oil change...

Great locking tool mate, gazza, any chance of a group buy on this fantastic tool !!!

Really nice to see a member tackling the chain replacement, it looks like one of those jobs that could be done with a liitle common sense, a reasonable toolkit and a logical methodical working regime, wonder how Vauxhall manage to do it then ???????

thats what vauxhall around me are chargeing,so i guss it a fair price
