Tried it all m8 use the bar from my big jack and my long ratchet nearly liffted the engine out and dumb me put the pipe through the water outlet after 20 mins and snapped the alloy so i fecked now anyway it must be damaged inside not to cum off after the amount of force i put on the bar,

whip the cams out, they will sell :D

they come in handy when someone needs to send a pair of cams to be reground at piper cheers..

a fair price would be £50 the pair dunno..

but it depends on how much someone wants them

they only fit astra's and vx220's as they don't have the hex drive, but then again they might notsure.gif

best to have a look, remove the blanking plate on the end of the head/camshaft and see if there's a hex hole in the cam notsure.gif

Vocky what is the best way to do the engine, i have all tools like engine hoist etc,
is it best to remove engine leave gearbox in etc, or droping the subframe and pulling it out.? what do you recomend.

a quick thought :?

you did remove all the 14 head bolts didn't you notsure.gif

engine + box out the top

you need to remove the driveshafts from the gearbox, do this by removing the lower wishbone from the subframe and then pull the driveshaft out the box :)

Thanks do you know what i left the 2 head bolts in under the timing chain didn't see them what an idiot i am if the head is ok i'll kick mine self now i damaged it..

that engine has done the best part of 75k

but the timing chain looks brand new, you can reuse it for the new engine :)

you need the broken bits, take them to an engineering company or alloy welding specialist

expect to pay about £30-50, but the head is worth about £300 complete with cams etc

ok thanks i have a friend who is going to weld it he has his own company that is and engineering firm so that was lucky,,

also is it worth taken the remaining 3 pistons out could they be sold also?

and last question does the battery tray un bolt i not yet looked as i just thought of it while writing this as that will be obstruction teh removal of block and gearbox..

thanks

due to the mileage I doubt the pistons will be worth salvaging :(

I know the vectra battery tray unbolts, not sure about the astra notsure.gif
