VXR Recaro Seat Restoration

OK, so I've made the initial step to getting my drivers seat fixed. I've just ordered a new complete base foam for the seat.

The new foam has cost £82 direct from Vauxhall.

Yeah, it was collapsed when I bought the car. VX were supposed to have fixed it, but they only fixed the issue with the part where my ass goes, as that had collapsed as well, and you could feel the metal supports under the seat.

Classic Car Services (www.classiccarservices.co.uk) will be doing the trimming once the foam is here. Been coated £120 + VAT to have the leather replaced with a harder wearing piece on the bolster.

Once it's all done, I'm then going to look at getting some seat covers. No one makes a Recaro specific one for the VXR yet, but I've been in contact with Capital Seating, as they are a Recaro specialist, and the currently make them for the Corsa and Vectra.

They'd need my car for a day to make a pattern, and in return, I get a free seat cover :D

Well at least you know it will be a good job for that kind of money.

And a good deal for the seat covers. youl just have to go steady jumping in and out!

Yep, I've already had to change how I get in and out of the car, so the bolsters don't get touched. Anyone else getting in also gets told this!

Just spoke with Classic Car Services, and they would need my car over night to do the seat, so that is going to be a little tricky! notsure.gif

Just give them the seat, take it out the car for them. Then the car can stay at home with you

Bit difficult when it's the drivers seat. I can hire a KA for £26 and drive it home from Leicester and drive back the following day.

Bet you can not wait to get it done (y) although £83 for some foam seems steep lol
£83 was trade price!

I'm going to push to get it done in 1 day, as the other place I spoke to said it would only be an hours labour to swap the foam, it's the re-trimming that will take the time. Would be cheaper for me getting it done in 1 day.
