Recall 1532

Does anyone know what date Vauxhall released recall 1532 ?

Has anybody ever received notification from Vauxhall of this recall ?

The modification should presumably have been carried out FOC during servicing at a Vauxhall Dealer ?

(Sorry for so many questions)

it isn't actualy a recall.

it was a field remedy which was released to dealerships telling them what to do if customers took their cars in to the garage and the chain had snapped.

Yep, as Andy says, it's only relevant if your chain has snapped. You can't go into the dealer and say "I'm worried about my chain snapping etc etc" and quote this field remedy, because it's apparently not relevant until your chain snaps!

- PLUS - if your car's engine number is outside the range mentioned on that particular remedy you get NO help at all (and we all know that plenty of engines outside that range still have the old style oil jet fitted).

Add to that the fact that as soon as the car is 6 year old or hits 60k miles (whichever is sooner) you also get NO help whatsoever.

Thanks for the reply Steve, I did realise that.

The reason I ask the first two questions is to see if anyone knows when Vauxhall Motors Ltd released 'Field Remedy 1532'. This information could be very useful.

The other point is that Vauxhall Motors Ltd, are admitting that a component that they have designed and manufactured is "not fit for its purpose" (refering to the oil distribution nozzle) as stated in the TIS
'Cause: Missing or insuffient lubrication of the timing chain'
and as we know has now been replaced by a modified part.

We have evidence (from some of the members and photographs from this website) that not just the vehicles with engine numbers before 11065400 are fitted with the older oil distribution nozzle.

My brother-in-law is a partner for a firm of solicitors and is a litigator who deals with "specialist disputes". I am drafting a letter (with his help) to Vauxhall Motors Ltd, regarding the whole issue, having spoken to a Technical Services Manager who did in fact issue me with a personal case number, representing all Vauxhall owners, especially those who have contributed to and aided other members on this web site.

It will probably not get anywhere but I will at least give it a go.

Untrue, they replaced my "slack chain"
